Full Job Description
  • The Business Operations & Plant Manager is responsible for overall leadership, safety, compliance, operational performance, customer satisfaction, employee development, and financial performance of the branch. This role combines responsibility for wastewater treatment plant operations, transportation operations, fleet management, environmental compliance, and full P&L accountability.

Leadership & People Management
  • Provide leadership and accountability for all operations, transportation, maintenance, and administrative personnel.
  • Recruit, hire, train, coach, and develop employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and succession planning.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and scheduling.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, environmental, DOT, and company requirements.
  • Lead safety meetings, inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Coordinate root cause analyses and corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper completion of vehicle inspections and regulatory documentation.

Plant Operations Management
  • Manage incoming wastewater inventory, storage capacity, processing schedules, and treatment activities.
  • Direct wastewater receiving, treatment, storage, and discharge operations in accordance with permits and SOPs.
  • Monitor throughput, treatment efficiency, compliance performance, and capacity utilization.
  • Manage chemical inventories and operating supplies.
  • Review profiles, manifests, bills of lading, and regulatory documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitor facility conditions and communicate operational risks and performance to leadership.

Transportation & Logistics Management
  • Direct daily route assignments using company logistics systems.
  • Ensure DOT and Hours of Service compliance.
  • Monitor productivity, service quality, route completion, overtime, hours per stop, and asset utilization.
  • Conduct route observations and field audits.
  • Coordinate with fleet maintenance providers to maintain vehicle reliability.

Fleet, Equipment & Asset Management
  • Oversee preventive maintenance and repair programs for facility and fleet assets.
  • Maintain inventories of chemicals, tools, parts, operational supplies, and commonly used equipment.
  • Identify capital improvement opportunities and major repairs.

Customer & Vendor Relations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers through regular communication and site visits.
  • Resolve customer concerns and ensure service expectations are met.
  • Manage vendor and contractor performance.

Financial & Business Management
  • Maintain full P&L responsibility for the branch.
  • Develop and implement annual business plans and operating strategies.
  • Monitor revenue, labor, disposal, maintenance, chemical, and operating expenses.
  • Compile and analyze operational, financial, safety, and compliance reports.
  • Achieve revenue, profitability, and budget objectives.

Administrative Responsibilities
  • Oversee branch administrative functions, billing support, customer account administration, and operational records.
  • Ensure that all required reports and documentation are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Coordinate activities with Logistics, Sales, Customer Service, Fleet, Compliance, Safety, Maintenance, and Finance departments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Environmental Science, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum five years of progressive leadership experience in wastewater, transportation, environmental services, industrial operations, or related industries.
  • Experience with budgets, P&L management, compliance programs, and personnel leadership.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
