CMM Programmer (PC-DMIS)

Quality • Full-time • On-site • Woburn, MA

About the Role

Boyd / Eaton in Woburn is hiring a CMM Programmer to write, prove out, and maintain inspection

programs on Hexagon coordinate measuring machines using PC-DMIS. This person owns dimensional

inspection programming for production and first-article work so Quality can measure parts accurately,

repeatably, and without depending on a single individual.

The CMM Programmer works on the floor with Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering. The job is hands-

on: CAD and prints in, safe DCC programs out, inspectors trained to run released routines.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, debug, and release PC-DMIS measurement programs for Hexagon CMMs from

engineering drawings and 3D CAD.

• Interpret and apply ASME Y14.5 GD&T, including true position, profile, runout, and datum reference

frames.

• Build stable alignments and collision-safe DCC probe paths; qualify probes and manage stylus builds.

• Prove out new programs on the machine and document fixture setup, probe files, and operator run

instructions.

• Support first-article, incoming, in-process, and final dimensional inspection as required by the quality

system.

• Review CMM results, identify out-of-tolerance conditions, and work with Quality and Operations on

next steps.

• Maintain the program library and revision control so trained inspectors can run released programs.

• Train Quality inspectors to execute released programs and perform basic program operation.

• Use PC-DMIS Offline programming when available so the CMM stays available for measurement.

• Coordinate routine CMM care and Hexagon service support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience writing production CMM programs in PC-DMIS (creating programs, not only

running them).

• Experience operating Hexagon or comparable DCC CMMs.

• Ability to program from CAD models and from 2D drawings.

• Working knowledge of GD&T and how to measure it correctly on a CMM.

• Ability to prove out programs, document setups, and work on a manufacturing shop floor.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Must be able to work on-site in Woburn, MA.
