Full Job Description
POSITION: BOOKKEEPER

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Duration of Appointment:Full-Time, Temporary - Maternity / Parental Leave (cover until August, 2027)

SALARY: $88,747.10 (Start: 10/01/25 - 09/30/26 - pursuant to Appendix A of the UBCP/ACTRA / Unifor 3000 CA.

UBCP/ACTRA is seeking a BOOKKEEPER to join our team.

Working within a collaborative, team environment, the Bookkeeper will provide overall support to the department. Key responsibilities include payroll, processing of account payable, report preparation, financial analyses, reconciliations and assisting with year-end requirements.

The successful candidate will have excellent attention to detail, the ability to analyze and problem-solve, be proficient with MS Suite and have at least three years of bookkeeping experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs general daily accounting functions.
  • Records and processed all accounts payable for all related Union and Trust accounts.
  • Assists in payroll processing for Staff and Executives including all year-end requirements (T4/T4A/NR4).
  • Posts, balances, and reconciles general ledger accounts.
  • Prepares monthly reports to assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements as requested.
  • Assists in the analysis of member financial tracking databases for allocation of income, expenses and member funds.
  • Assists in developing and producing reconciliation, analytical and statistical reports as required.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Performs other duties related to accounting functions.
  • Attends Membership Meetings, as required.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Employer.
  • Reports to the Employer.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate degree or post-secondary formal training in finance or accounting or a relevant discipline with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience is preferred.
  • Minimum three (3) years of bookkeeping experience.
  • Must have experience doing full cycle accounting.
  • Must have experience dealing with large volumes of data, downloading, formatting and reconciling.
  • Experience working in a member-based and/or customer service-oriented environment.
  • Film industry knowledge would be considered an asset.


SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Intermediate computer skills using MS Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook), and experience with QuickBooks Online is an asset.
  • Sensitivity and judgment in the handling of confidential information.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve, show initiative, and take ownership of tasks.
  • Intermediate understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and modern banking processes.
  • Exceptional administrative and time management skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

OTHER

HOURS OF WORK: 5 days per week (35 hours). Regular office hours M-F 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Eligible for Work Life Balance schedule as per Article 21.07 of the UBCP/ACTRA and Unifor Local 3000 Collective Agreement.

SALARY: This position has a current annual salary of $88,747.10 (Start: 10/01/2025 - 09/30/2026 - pursuant to Appendix "A" of the UBCP/ACTRA / Unifor Local 3000 Collective Agreement.
