As a Systems Engineer on a hardworking team of talented specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will define, capture and manage mission-specific system technical baselines, system configurations, and capability roadmap implementation within the Mission Systems Engineering, Integration & Test organization, working closely with other system, software, hardware and integration & test engineers to establish the technical requirements and architecture baseline and help ensure the successful alignment of unique Blue Ring Spacecraft capabilities, missions and customer needs. This position reports to the Mission SEIT Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Requirements, Architecture & Verification Director for the space mobility product line. You will work at a spacecraft mission & system level with a focus on using modern MBSE standards to manage Blue Ring architectural product line variants, including all critical spacecraft bus, ground system and payload requirements and interfaces. This role will begin with a first-of-its-kind space vehicle in development and grow with the product line through multiple missions and objectives.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Blue Ring Mission Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (MSEIT) team and other supporting organizations to define, implement, optimize, and manage Systems Engineering governance processes
  • Perform as a subject matter expert on Blue Ring system requirements, design parameters, technical budgets, ICDs, program plans, and technical performance measures to lead the execution of stakeholder needs analyses to align system configurations and technical capabilities with customer missions
  • Track the evolution of system configurations for existing Blue Ring programs and identify synergies between mission types and customer requirements
  • Work across organizational boundaries to develop plans for technology onramp and capability evolutions in alignment with existing and future customer needs
  • Perform as the technical lead for Systems Engineering Change Management, including evaluation and optimization of existing processes
  • Define standardized approaches to developing and maintaining technical baselines across the Blue Ring organization in support of multiple concurrent missions, development efforts, and customers
  • Lead trade studies to evaluate evolving technologies and mission requirements
  • Utilize Systems Engineering tools such as Jama, Windchill and Cameo
  • Support and present to leadership and at major gated reviews including design reviews, mission reviews, readiness reviews, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, preferably in the space industry
  • Demonstrated understanding of systems engineering fundamentals and experience in multiple system lifecycle phases
  • Successful candidates in this role typically have 5+ years of related experience in the design, development, and flight test of aerospace systems, preferably spacecraft
  • Experience in definition of space system requirements and concept definitions that span a broad range of mission objectives
  • Understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and the “Systems Engineering V”
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain a US Government Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Spacecraft operations, command & control system experience, including familiarity with spacecraft and ground-system internal and external interfaces and/or spacecraft communications uplink and downlink technologies
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering
  • Familiarity with System Modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
  • Experience across the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design through operational support)
  • Knowledge of collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA
  • Familiarity with formal risk and opportunity management processes
  • Master’s degree in Systems Engineering, Systems Architecture or a related discipline

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20 CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85 WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
