Full Job Description
Position Summary:
The Biostatistics Director will be responsible for developing high-quality evidence to support CFF's mission to advance high-quality specialized care for all individuals with CF. Additionally, they will expand the impact of the data in the CF Foundation Patient Registry (CFFPR) by enabling additional research through data linkages and harmonization and by increasing quality through quality controls and standardization protocols. They will oversee the process by which external investigators request Registry data for research and provide statistical and epidemiologic methods expertise to both CFF staff activities and external stakeholders. The Biostatistics Director will also provide technical support in the development of the Next Generation Patient Registry. The Director of Biostatistics will be responsible for thinking strategically about opportunities to enhance research capabilities that further expand our understanding of CF and CF care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead the application of state-of-the-art statistical methods to conduct analyses to address research questions using data from the CF Foundation Patient Registry.
  • Provide statistical expertise in the design and analysis of real-world research studies.
  • Disseminate study findings through conference presentations, posters, and collaborative development of manuscripts.
  • Review and evaluate research proposals for CFF Patient Registry data from external investigators.
  • Manage and support biostatisticians / data analysts.
  • Support enhancement of the CFFPR data through improvements in the registry and linkage to other data sources.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • MPH/MS Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Demography, or other similar quantitative field of study (Required)
  • PhD/DSc Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Demography, or other similar quantitative field of study (Preferred)
  • 10+ years Relevant work experience
  • 5+ years Managing staff
  • Experience with secondary data analysis study design and analytic methods, including longitudinal modeling, causal inference, and time-to-event analyses.
  • Experience with registries or other large observational data sets.
  • Prior experience with peer-review publication process.
  • Experience with electronic health record data. (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in SAS and R; knowledgeable proficiency with SQL.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple daily tasks, and shift priorities as needed.
  • Familiar with IRB review process and human subjects research protections.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization skills.
  • Robust writing and communication skills, including the ability to discuss statistical concepts with clinicians, people with CF, and their family members.
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills with both in-person and remote colleagues.


REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
  • This position reports to the Senior Director of Patient Registry and Real-World Evidence.
  • This role will oversee a team of 4-6 clinical data analysts.


WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
  • No heavy lifting required.
  • Minimal travel (e.g., 4x/yr.) to conferences and meetings, as necessary.

The salary range is $170,800.00 to $213,400.00. Specific salary varies based on geographic location and is commensurate with experience.
