Context

The BIM Specialist is responsible for creating, developing, maintaining, and governing BIM objects, templates, and library content to support project delivery across infrastructure, rail, and transportation assignments. He ensures that BIM content is structured, traceable, compliant, and aligned with project requirements, modelling standards, and the BIM Execution Plan (BEP), while supporting multidisciplinary teams in the effective use of object libraries, templates, and digital production workflows.

Missions/Main Duties

  • Create, develop, and maintain BIM objects, templates, and library content in accordance with input from the BIM Lead Team, design discipline teams, and project-specific BIM requirements.
  • Ensure traceability, documentation, and proper metadata management of all BIM content within the project's designated information management systems.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary design teams to identify content needs, ensure timely availability, and support consistent modelling practices.
  • Integrate feedback and lessons learned to continuously improve and update the BIM object library throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support automation of object creation, classification, and data management through scripts, plugins, or dedicated BIM tools and production tools configuration.
  • Assist discipline teams in the integration, structuring, and correct use of BIM objects within their models.
  • Contribute to maintaining alignment between object libraries, modelling standards, and project BIM Execution Plan (BEP) requirements.
  • Contribute to deployment support, user guidance, and training related to BIM tools, templates, and workflows.


Profile/Skills

Education: Degree or diploma in engineering, architecture, construction, BIM, or a related field.

Years of experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in BIM content development, BIM library management, or digital design support within infrastructure, rail, transportation, or multidisciplinary projects.

Technical competencies:
  • Proficiency in major BIM authoring platforms, including parametric object creation, family editing, attributes, and classification systems, such as but not limited to Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Bentley tools, and Autodesk Forma.
  • Strong understanding of BIM standards such as ISO 19650, BuildingSMART classifications, and project-specific modelling requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality parametric objects aligned with project needs, discipline guidelines, and data requirements.
  • Experience managing BIM libraries, structured repositories, and metadata-rich BIM and CADD content within large-scale infrastructure or multidisciplinary projects.
  • Understanding of coordination processes, model exchange workflows, and data compliance.
  • Familiarity with 3D coordination environments.
  • Experience with scripting or automation tools is considered an asset.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English.*
