Position Summary:

The individual taking on this role will be part of the Morgan Stanley Virtual Advisor (MSVA) team within Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Canada (MSWC). The role requires a bilingual person who is proficient in both English and French (verbal and written).

The MSVA team is a group of registered financial advisors servicing the mass affluent channel that provides clients with financial advice and guidance as well as all other servicing needs through a phone-based model. The role will also include assisting the firm in other registerable activities relating to other business opportunities and initiatives.

The individual in the role will support MSVA business development initiatives to drive growth, create business efficiencies and increase client loyalty. MSWC is looking for a driven advice professional with a customer-centric mindset and strong relationship management, organizational, and business development skills.

The role will be based Montreal, Quebec or Toronto, Ontario, with expectations of regular in-office collaboration of 4-5 days per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement comprehensive and tailored investment strategies which integrate multiple aspects of a client's life and financial goals through regular touchpoints and annual reviews maintaining an up-to-date investment plan
  • Proactively and reactively communicate with clients and prospects referred to the business from multiple sources as well as self-sourcing business development opportunities
  • Open and service accounts on the Morgan Stanley Wealth Management Canada platform, including supporting our Directed Share Program, Self-Directed channel and other firm initiatives that drive revenue growth
  • Ensure consistency and regulatory compliance across all prospect / client touch points
  • Focus on the client experience at every interaction and connecting with clients to build relationships in a meaningful and interactive way, including ability to communicate with clients in French as well as English
  • Conduct research on industry insights and emerging client experience trends in the mass affluent segment through proprietary and third-party sources
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales organizations to drive client engagement
  • Responsible for assessing business insights and industry trends
  • Manage voice of the client survey programs to improve the client experience
  • Liaison with business stakeholders and technology to drive client-centric initiatives and digital engagement


Qualifications:

  • Registered as Registered Representative (RR) with CIRO
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1-3 years of experience as a financial advisor at a Canadian Wealth Management firm, preferably within a mass affluent channel
  • Bilingual (proficient in both English and French), verbal and written, required
  • CFP (Certified Financial Planner) or equivalent designation preferred
  • Familiarity with Wealth Management branch structure, sales, and branch operations
  • Call center experience within the financial services industry as well as a deep understanding of the financial services industry through a mass affluent channel lens
  • Must be comfortable working closely with various functional business areas
  • Ability to operate in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Ability to prioritize and operate in a dynamic business environment
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong proficiency with financial planning software

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $80,000 and $95,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
