The Opportunity
The Vice President, Global Benefits is a high-impact leadership role responsible for the strategic vision, financial optimization, and operational delivery of a comprehensive global benefits portfolio. Managing an annual spend exceeding $200M in 60+ countries, this leader will oversee health and welfare, retirement, wellbeing programs and benefits administration for a diverse, international workforce.
Reporting to SVP, Global Head of Total Rewards, the successful candidate will lead a multi-year global transformation of the benefits operating model—transitioning from a localized, approach to a centralized, scalable framework. This role requires a sophisticated blend of financial acumen, executive-level storytelling, and the ability to drive operational excellence in a high-growth, complex multi-national environment.
Role and Responsibilities
1. Strategic Global Leadership & Governance
Global Operating Model Transformation: Lead the end-to-end execution of a multi-year, three-phase strategic roadmap to transition the organization from a regional approach to a centralized, high-performance global delivery model that scales with business growth.
Total Rewards Integration: Align the global benefits strategy with the broader Total Rewards philosophy to ensure market competitiveness and support for the company’s high-growth talent needs.
Global Governance: Establish a global governance committee with oversight of benefit design, compliance across 60+ countries.
2. Financial Stewardship & Data Analytics
Strategic ROI: Drive a long-term financial strategy to optimize spend, targeting significant savings through global benefit pooling, strategic renewals, and centralized financial tracking.
Executive & Board Communication: Act as a key advisor to the C-Suite, developing data-driven analytics, rewards recommendations, and high-impact slide decks for executive decision-making.
Risk Mitigation: Proactively manage global healthcare inflation and regulatory risks through sophisticated modeling and vendor management.
3. Operational Transformation & Scalability
Service Excellence: Oversee the build-out of the global benefits administration team to improve service delivery and global operational efficiency.
Digital Transformation: Evaluate and implement global third-party administration technology to move toward automated data flows and enhanced reporting capabilities.
4. Global Program Design & Wellbeing
Talent Attraction: Ensure benefit offerings are competitive for a diverse workforce, from frontline operations to corporate leadership, particularly in high-growth international markets.
Mental Health & Support: Advance the global wellbeing agenda, addressing critical needs for mental health support and work-life balance through innovative program design.
Communication: Drive a "One-Company" communication strategy that empowers employees to make informed benefit choices and enhances the employer value proposition.
5. Team Leadership & Global Management
Leadership: Provide direct management and mentorship to a global team of professionals across Strategy, Design, and Benefits Administration.
Regional Oversight: Provide leadership to regional leads in North America, LATAM, EMEA, and APAC, ensuring high performance and local compliance.
The Ideal Candidate Characteristics & Credentials
Experience: 15+ years of progressive HR/Total Rewards leadership experience, with at least 5-7 years in a global benefits leadership role for (30k+ employees).
Transformation Expertise: Proven track record of leading large-scale operating model transformations or HR globalizations in a complex, multi-national environment.
Financial Acumen: Deep expertise in global benefit pooling, captive arrangements, and sophisticated cost-projection modeling.
Executive Presence: Exceptional ability to synthesize complex financial and benefits data into compelling narratives for the C-Suite and Board of Directors.
Global Perspective: Strong cultural competency and experience navigating the regulatory and benefit landscapes across multiple countries.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or Finance; MBA or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CEBS) preferred.
