Benefits ManagerReporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Benefits Manager plays a key role in managing and enhancing PEAC's employee benefits, wellness, and compensation programs. This position is responsible for ensuring that benefit offerings are competitive, compliant, well-communicated, and aligned with the company's strategic objectives. In addition, this role provides day-to-day dotted-line oversight of the part-time Payroll Specialist, who is responsible for processing PEAC's payroll for approximately 300 employees in 20+ states within the United States. The Benefits Manager maintains a primary focus on benefits and compensation programs, while ensuring payroll-related processes are completed accurately, timely, and in compliance with applicable requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the administration, communication, and continuous improvement of PEAC's employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement, leave, wellness, and voluntary benefits.
- Evaluate benefit offerings and recommend enhancements to support employee attraction, retention, engagement, and well-being.
- Lead PEAC's annual benefits open enrollment, including employee communications, training, system updates, vendor coordination, and issue resolution.
- Maintain relationships with benefits brokers, carriers, and vendors; monitor service levels, resolve issues, and support effective program delivery.
- Ensure benefits and related total rewards programs comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FLSA, and related requirements.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and provide training, education, and support to employees and managers on benefits, wellness, compensation, and related total rewards topics.
- Support compensation and annual review processes, including merit increases, promotions, pay changes, bonus awards, position pricing, and recommendations that promote internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Develop and maintain metrics, reports, dashboards, communications, and standard operating procedures related to benefits, wellness, compensation, payroll coordination, vendor management, and open enrollment.
- Provide day-to-day dotted-line oversight to the part-time Payroll Specialist, including guidance, prioritization, issue resolution, payroll review, and support for payroll-related audits.
- Coordinate with the Payroll Specialist to help ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, including wages, salaries, benefit deductions, garnishments, taxes, payroll updates, and other payroll-related items.
Qualifications- 5+ years of experience in benefits, total rewards compensation, or a related human resources function.
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits principles, practices, regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems, including ADP Workforce Now, and benefits administration platforms.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make recommendations.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with employees, managers, vendors, brokers, and leadership.
- Experience supporting or overseeing multi-state payroll processes is preferred; direct ownership of complex payroll processing is not required.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to integrity and maintains strict confidentiality.
