BDS Capabilities & Technology Sr. Engineering Manager and Chief of Staff

This is a rewarding yet challenging leadership role that will directly support the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of BDS. This role requires an individual to drive strategy and world-class execution in the operations of the BDS Capabilities & Technology organization.

In assisting the BDS Chief Technology Officer, the role will help drive organizational strategy, manage the operating rhythm, and lead and integrate special projects and integration with engineering stakeholders across BDS and ET&T. The candidate will often represent the interests of the Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for BDS, thus requiring general BDS and aerospace & defense industry product and customer knowledge along with demonstrated abilities to interface and collaborate with executive levels.

If selected, you will be responsible for artifacts that represent the entirety of BDS Engineering in the support of first-time quality for our stakeholders, partners and customers. While the primary focus of the role is in support of the BDS CTO, this is a strategic position for the entire BDS Capabilities & Technology Leadership Team. This requires partnering with numerous leaders across the divisions and capabilities.

Position Responsibilities include:
  • Architects and executes the BDS Capabilities & Technology operating rhythm and management system.
  • Manages operations to ensure the organization runs efficiently and effectively.
  • Owns development and drives execution of key engineering initiatives.
  • Drives performance to plan for BDS Capabilities & Technology priorities.
  • Works closely with the leadership team to enable outcomes in the areas of planning, execution, communication and operations of the organization
  • Tracks and drives action around engineering measures of effectiveness
  • Provide BDS CTO support for internal and external engagements and coordinates presentation materials.
  • Anticipates leadership needs for scheduled events, presentations, discussions, and recurring processes; researches, prepares, socializes, and reviews materials as appropriate to the event
  • Identifies risks, opportunities and internal challenges for leadership team awareness and supports development of mitigation plans
  • Fosters effective working relationships with leadership, functional partners, customer counterparts and is embedded into the business


A successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the following abilities:
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills where attention to detail is paramount
  • The ability to analyze and summarize data for executive consumption
  • Use of sound judgment to execute complex tasks with minimal guidance.
  • Willingness and the ability to work across cross-functional and geographically distributed teams
  • Experience developing executive level presentations and ensuring day-to-day operations are run as efficiently as possible whilst not sacrificing quality
  • Ability to network and collaborate across multiple organizations
  • Demonstrated experience in engineering and knowledge of BDS business
  • Ability to effectively deal with complexity and ambiguity
  • Ability to periodically travel to support leadership meetings and other engagements


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. Occasional 25% travel may be required due to business needs.

Basic Qualifications: (Required Skills/Experience)
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 10+ years' experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers and partners
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering leadership
  • 5+ years' experience working in ambiguity and changing priorities in a fast-paced collaborative environment in support of multiple organizations
  • Experience in a role that required strong problem solving skills and analytical skills
  • Experience developing presentation materials suitable for executive level management


Preferred Qualifications: (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • 5+ years of experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation and completion
  • Experience leading and supporting the development and integration of business plans, strategies, and processes to meet business goals
  • Experience developing and / or reporting metrics & KPIs
  • Strong presentation skills and the capability to effectively communicate data in Senior Leadership briefings
