About the role and the team:

The Seller Experience and Messaging organization within Selling Engineering builds the products and experiences that help business sellers successfully run and grow their businesses on eBay. This team focuses on the tools B2C and C2C sellers use every day to manage listings, orders, and the overall health of their selling business. Within this space, the Seller Hub Overview team owns the landing experience that gives sellers a daily health check of their business, highlights the most important tasks to address, and helps them prioritize what needs attention each day.

What you will accomplish:
  • Build solutions using your strong background in distributed systems, and large scale database systems.
  • Research, analyze, design, develop and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies.
  • Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and project related team meetings.
  • Work with other engineers, Architects, Product Management, and Operations teams to develop innovative solutions that meet business needs with respect to functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and consistency to development principles and product goals.
  • Develop technical & domain expertise and apply to solving product challenges.
  • Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems scaling beyond 1B requests/day and focused on improving user experience at eBay.
  • Estimate engineering effort, plan execution cycles, and rollout system changes
  • Share engineering support, release, and on-call responsibilities for an always-on 24x7 site.


What you will bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science plus 3+ years of experience or MS in Computer Science plus 2+ years of hands-on experience in building large-scale distributed systems.
  • Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures and algorithms.
  • Extensive hands-on experience and expertise in object-oriented design methodology and application development using Java/J2EE, SOLID Principles, Design Patterns, Spring/Spring Boot, and GraphQL.
  • Good understanding of using various database systems (NoSQL and relational) at scale.
  • Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards and improving build and test systems.
  • Partner effectively and influence peers, juniors and seniors both within the organization and across eBay.
  • Experience building backend services using Java and Kotlin, with hands-on expertise in GraphQL
  • Experience using AI tools like Claude, Cursor, Cline etc.


Additional Details

The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below:
C$118,000 - C$157,500

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including RRSP eligibility, various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
