This is a contingent position, meaning employment is dependent upon the successful award of the associated contract to Aretum and completion of any required background investigation or security clearance verification.
Job Summary Aretum is seeking a skilled and motivated Backend Developer. As a Backend Developer you will be responsible for providing expert technical support, maintenance, and enhancement of a client application within an Agile, sprint-based development environment. The ideal candidate leverages strong backend development expertise in Python, AWS, RESTful APIs, databases, and scalable data solutions to ensure application performance, availability, and integration with TypeScript-based front-end components.
Due to the nature of our work as a federal consulting organization, employees may be expected to handle Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and must adhere to applicable safeguarding and compliance requirements.
Responsibilities- Provide expert technical support to maintain the client application
- Provide support for development, enhancements, accessibility, integration, optimization, and maintenance
- Ensure availability and correct operations
- Work within a sprint-based development cycle
- Utilize knowledge of the AWS cloud environment, Python backend and TypeScript front-end
Requirements- 5 years of backend development experience
- Bachelor's Degree (3 years of additional experience is acceptable in lieu of a degree)
- Experience using modern software to prototype and deploy backend web applications
- Experience using web programming languages (e.g., Ruby, Python) and web development frameworks (e.g., Django, Rails)
- Experience developing and consuming web-based, RESTful APIs
- Experience with relational and non-relational database systems
- Proficiency with scalable search technology
- Competence in handling and scaling large data sets and their storage
- Experience using version control systems
- Experience working in a team environment that uses agile methodologies
- Experience authoring developer-friendly documentation
- Experience communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Travel Requirements This is a remote position; however, occasional travel may be required based on project needs, client meetings, team collaboration events, or training sessions. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and will be communicated in advance whenever possible.
U.S. Work Authorization Applicants must be U.S. citizens or currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. This position supports a federal government contract and requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability Determination, depending on the agency's background investigation requirements. Sponsorship is not available.
