Role SummaryExeQut is hiring a Backend Java Developer to join our Maryland-based team in a hybrid capacity. You will design and develop robust backend systems serving U.S. enterprise clients, collaborating with product managers, frontend engineers, and DevOps in an agile environment. This is a great opportunity for a skilled Java engineer ready to take ownership of meaningful, production-grade work.
Primary Responsibilities- Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services using Java and Spring Boot
- Contribute to system architecture and design decisions with best practices in mind
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, frontend developers, and DevOps
- Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and sprint planning
- Write clean, scalable, and well-documented code
- Troubleshoot production issues and contribute to root cause analysis
- Optionally support product ownership tasks such as requirement elicitation and solution scoping
Qualifications & RequirementsTechnical Expertise
- 3+ years of professional experience in backend Java development
- Strong hands-on experience with Spring Boot
- Proven experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Solid understanding of software development best practices and architecture patterns
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available at this time)
Bonus Skills (Nice-to-Have)
- Java certification(s)
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines

Engagement StructureThis is a contract-to-hire position. The initial one-year employment contract is through ExeQut, with the candidate working hybrid at our client's Maryland location. Conversion to a full-time role directly with the client is the anticipated outcome upon completion of the contract.
