JOB SUMMARY:
The AVP, Senior Internal Auditor, will assist the Chief Internal Audit Officer in the execution of the Bank's Internal Audit plan, will work with our audit partners and with the Bank's Stakeholders. This position will assist in the development of the Bank's Anti Money Laundering/Bank Secrecy Act and Financial Crimes audit processes.
Responsibilities:- Provide audit and advisory services relating to AML/BSA OFAC and anti-financial crimes for the Bank's lines of business.
- Deliver audit work such as issue validations, risk assessments, and reporting memorandums within agreed assignment time frames and budgets, with guidance. Develop new or revise existing audit programs.
- Assist in the development of a monitoring framework that will use analytics to continually assess AML/BSA risks.
- Identify, assess, and challenge the impact of audit exceptions, make appropriate recommendations, and present clear and convincing explanations of the issues with audit management and operating personnel.
- Prepare written audit reports, requiring reasonable edits from internal reviews to business management at the conclusion of audit reviews.
- Appraise the adequacy of corrective action taken to address previously reported audit findings or findings identified by other assurance providers. As applicable, review follow-up work performed by other auditors.
- Obtain and maintain a detailed knowledge base and awareness of activities in moderate to moderately high-risk areas of assigned liaison coverage, review and analyze pertinent data, and learn how to assess the impact of changes.
- Ability to execute audit work pertaining to tangential lines of businesses, covering financial, operational, products, compliance, and IT audits as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Must be an active, experienced, Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), preferably with the ACAMS Certified AFC Auditor certification;
- Other designations, such as a CIA and CFE are a plus;
- Experience in auditing AML/BSA/OFAC and Financial Crimes Risks in a bank and their institutional partners
- Experience in internal audit methodology, including audit planning, fieldwork, reporting, and issue follow-up;
- Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of key controls that address the Bank's risks, including probability and impact of internal control weaknesses;
- Experienced in stakeholder interactions to provide advice, expertise and communications to management to build and sustain positive client relationships and to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels;
- Ability to present sensitive findings to management in a non-confrontational manner. Strong interpersonal and communication skills - face-to-face, electronically and in writing;
- Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills to prepare sections of audit reports, prepare issues analysis and other required documents; and present findings;
- Ability to demonstrate use of AI tools is a plus;
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, sound judgement, creativity and enthusiasm;
Education, Training, and Experience:- 4-6 years of experience as an internal auditor in a bank or advisory firm
- Undergraduate business degree in Finance, Information Systems /Analytics, Criminal Justice/Financial Crimes or related degree; Masters degree a plus.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFE, CIA, CISA are preferred.
