Assistant Vice President - Sales

About this opportunity

This position is primarily responsible for leading and executing strategic sales initiatives to drive revenue growth and market expansion. The AVP - Sales oversees the sales team's performance, develops and implements effective sales plans, and ensures alignment with organizational goals and customer needs. This role collaborates cross-functionally with marketing, operations, and leadership to optimize sales processes and enhance customer relationships. Additionally, the position identifies objectives, strategies, and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and profitability.

What your role will look like

  • Perform sales activities on premium accounts and negotiate prices and discounts in consultation with VP of Marketing & Development and Chief Operating Officer.
  • Analyze the competitive landscape and develop appropriate target markets for growth.
  • Manage the sales commission process, including calculation of commission, and review sales compensation by benchmarking and recommending changes as needed.
  • Manage the Sales team by coordinating tasks and providing guidance to conduct daily operations, align team performance with company goals, and ensure consistent execution of sales strategies. Leadership functions additionally include the following.
    • Coach staff on a daily basis while maintaining morale, motivation, accountability, discipline, and positive recognition.
    • Create a workplace culture that is consistent with Eastern's overall culture and emphasizes the identified mission, vision, and pillars of Eastern.
    • Develop growth opportunities for direct reports.
    • Maintain appropriate staffing levels by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training new employees.
    • Identify and effectively communicate objectives and goals.
    • Educate the Sales team by establishing programs and seminars on new account sales and growth, sales of emerging products, improved presentation skills, competitive strategies, proper use and level of sales support, management of expenses, and business/financial contract issues.
    • Review energy consultants' progress and provide quarterly results assessments of their productivity.
    • Hold regular meetings with energy consultants and the Inside Sales team and assist with establishing personal contact and rapport with decision makers.
    • Develop specific sales objectives for each energy consultant to ensure profitable revenue growth in all products.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop sales strategies to improve market share in each geographic region.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to establish and control budgets for sales initiatives and trade show expenses.
  • Manage bid responses to improve overall sales performance.
  • Accurately forecast annual, quarterly, and monthly revenue streams.
  • Create, document, and execute all sales policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Establish trusting and cooperative relationships with service and operational teams and managers.
