The AVP of Product Management plays a critical role in driving profitable growth for Device Protection clients and is responsible for planning and executing the product strategy, ensuring alignment with stakeholder objectives, and delivering exceptional products/services to our key customers. The AVP has a strong understanding of consumer goods and device protection markets, with a proven product management record of accomplishment.

The AVP maintains an in-depth understanding of the competitive cross-category device protection and consumer goods marketplace, competition, and uses her or his strong product management and leadership capabilities to provide strategic direction and effectively drive product development and financial results in this market segment.

What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Strategic Leadership - Provides input into developing and implementing a comprehensive product growth strategy that aligns with the business's growth objectives. Understands the company's strategic vision and key market trends to establish team goals and aligned roadmaps prioritized to meet the needs of the business and build value for our customers.
  • Customer Focus - Works closely with BD and Account teams to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with current and prospective customers, large retailers and OEMs to understand their needs, challenges, and opportunities, ensuring our solution line continues to meet and exceed their expectations. Understands client strategies and client-facing opportunities to thoroughly vet customer problems & needs and uses that information to deliver value for clients and the company. Strengthens Assurant's reputation for thought leadership and expertise through client interactions and pitches. Provides solution advisory support for new/enhanced client opportunities in collaboration with business development and account management teams.
  • Market Expertise - Conduct and/or commission thorough market research and analysis to respond to trends, opportunities, and threats, including competitive practices and regulatory and legislative issues. Understand and incorporate trends in market dynamics, client needs, and end-consumer preferences into product strategy.
  • Product Lifecycle Management - Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from ideation and development to launch and post-launch support, ensuring continuous improvement and innovation, including communication of differentiators and unique selling points applicable to Retail and OEM markets. Oversee the creation of product features, capabilities, market positioning, enhancements, and change requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and detail for use by internal partners who support the delivery of products.
  • Drives Value - Owns product management responsibilities to include establishing, monitoring, and influencing all aspects of growth and profitability. Establish and track key performance indicators to measure product success and identify areas for improvement. Identify and implement best practices to measure success, including financial objectives, implementation schedules, and important milestones. Actively monitors performance of top clients and prospects, driving opportunities.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with sales, marketing, engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless integration and alignment of product ideation and growth, marketing plans, and drive associated client initiatives. Partner with internal teams to ensure effective execution to meet/exceed client Service Level Agreements (SLA). Partner with Legal to ensure adequate protections around intellectual property and company assets, and compliance with regulations. Work closely with implementations and engineering teams to prioritize and ensure the timely delivery of products and client solutions. Participate in Sprint planning, review, and retrospective meetings and provide feedback, including user stories and scenarios.
  • Team Leadership & Ownership Mentality - Build/recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing product management team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability for day-to-day team activities to maximize delivery against roadmaps and priorities. Champion a culture of creativity, scientific thoughtfulness, and data-informed decision-making to support the business and strategy. Demonstrate ownership mentality with a focus on accountability and execution.


What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Engineering, Technology, or a related field; Master's degree in business and/or technology is preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressively responsible product roles, with experience in B2B2C, preferably working with retailers, OEMs, and/or telecommunications service providers.
  • 5+ years' experience managing within a large, highly matrixed organization.
  • Strategic Thinker: Ability to think strategically and execute methodically.
  • Customer Centric: Strong customer focus and ability to contribute to the translation of customer needs into innovative product solutions.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and motivate teams to achieve outstanding results and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage/collaborate and influence at most levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.

  • Strong business and technology experience with specific experience working with technically focused personnel in product management or a similar role.

  • Strong understanding of industry trends, issues, and emerging technologies across all industries we serve, retail, telecommunications, and OEMs.

  • Exceptional depth of functional and system capabilities, including an in-depth understanding of client back-office systems, and how to integrate with them.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, design, implement, and run projects with a process methodology.

Pay Range:
$144,700.00 - $241,600.00

Any posted pay range considers a wide range of compensation factors, including candidate background, experience and work location, while also allowing for salary growth within the position.
