This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will develop a Hardware in the Loop Avionics testbed of a Lunar space vehicle to be used for development and verification testing. You will also develop test plans and procedures to be executed in the testbed to ensure the correctness and performance of our avionics and ground support equipment for spaceflight systems. In a fast-paced dynamic environment, you will support the development and design of the HIL and its use as a verification tool that tests the electronic hardware and software.

Because of the need for hands-on work, this position requires on-site work at Kent, WA.

Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate in the requirements, design, architecture, procurement, build, integration, and checkout of the Vehicle Test Bed (VTB).
  • Support the integration of flight avionics hardware, ground support equipment, operator consoles and analysis tooling necessary to verify the requirements and performance of avionics units under test within the VTB.
  • Generate interconnect diagrams for the testbed.
  • Create harness drawings and lead harness procurement activities.
  • Design rack hardware to support articles under test.
  • Support the design and development of Special Test Equipment (STE) and integrate Ground Support Equipment (GSE) to simulate and stimulate Articles Under Test (AUTs) or capture AUT output and interface performance.
  • Collaborate with software engineers to integrate hardware simulation and fault injection solutions with real-time vehicle simulations.


Qualifications:
  • B.S. in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience integrating and testing vehicle test beds or vehicle electrical systems
  • Experience developing special electronic test equipment and troubleshooting equipment
  • Experience with Zuken or other electrical design software.
  • Experience designing test harnessing.
  • Proficient in the use of standard electronic lab test and troubleshooting equipment
  • Preference for and ability to thrive as a member of a small, tightly integrated team
  • Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills


Desired:
  • M.S. degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science or related technical discipline
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Experience with development and execution of a large-scale verification of avionics on autonomous spaceflight systems
  • Experience supporting testbeds for spaceflight systems
  • Experience with programming in C++ and/or Python, Simulink experience


Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
