This position is hybrid 3 days per week in either our Cincinnati, OH, Atlanta, GA, or Denver, CO office OR fully remote within the Greater Boston Area.

What you'll own as the Senior Automation Engineer

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Develop, maintain, and optimize Puppet manifests and modules to automate server provisioning, configuration.


  • Pipeline Development: Design and build robust CI/CD pipelines (using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions) for seamless infrastructure updates


  • Configuration Management: Continuously enforce compliance and security baselines, actively mitigating configuration drift and managing system vulnerabilities.


  • System Integration: Integrate Puppet with existing CI/CD toolchains to ensure infrastructure is seamlessly prepared for application deployments.


  • Troubleshooting & Support: Monitor automated deployments, perform root-cause analysis on system failures, and troubleshoot pipeline or configuration issues.


  • Collaboration: Partner with software developers and system administrators to translate operational needs into automated, scalable, and self-service solutions.


  • Network understanding: Have network related understanding.


What you'll bring

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience and 5+ years related of experience


  • Core Tools: Deep, hands-on expertise with Puppet Enterprise or open-source Puppet for system configuration and state management.


  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux systems administration (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu), including system installation, configuration, performance tuning, patching, and troubleshooting.


  • Solid understanding of core OS concepts such as file systems, process management, memory usage, system logs, and security best practices.


  • Ability to diagnose and resolve system and network-related issues in distributed environments.


  • Scripting Skills: Scripting abilities in languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.


It's a bonus if you have

  • Good understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, load balancers, and basic network troubleshooting.


  • Familiarity with other IaC tools like Terraform or Ansible


  • Puppet Certified Practitioner


  • Red Hat Ansible certified


  • Red Hat Certified Engineer
