Full Job Description
Provides leadership and consultation in a team-based, customer-oriented environment.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

The Technical Specialist Advisor plays a critical role in data and AI organization shaping the way we are building the data foundation to scale AI. This is a role which requires deep understanding and technical expertise in Cloud and Data Engineering. This role will require the following skill sets and expertise:
  • 5+ years of data engineering background
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Google Cloud (or similar cloud provider), with specific expertise in GCP-native governance tools like Dataplex, Data Catalog, and BigQuery (lineage/security).
  • 5+ years of experience building CI/CD pipelines and using Git. Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and familiarity with the concept of "Governance as Code."
  • Experience working with modern AI assistance tools (Copilot, Gemini) to accelerate development and design.


Data Governance & Architecture
  • Strong understanding of modern data governance, including knowledge of Data Privacy & Compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Proven experience implementing Data Mesh principles, including Domain-driven design and treating Data-as-a-Product.


Leadership & Delivery
  • Prior tech lead experience is mandatory. Must be able to lead design sessions with multiple teams and conclude decision
  • Must possess the ability to translate complex technical design into a clear, simple language for non-technical stakeholders
  • Must have worked in an Agile environment and track deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills with a proven comfort level working alongside vendor partners and geographically distributed teams across different time zones.


Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
  • Skilled in one or more programming languages (Java / Python) used by FedEx.
  • Knowledge and experience with distributed systems, GCP/Azure, client/server technology, and object-oriented (OO) development.
  • Knowledge of Dataplex, SDP and other google services is preferred.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, and/or equivalent formal.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years of qualifying work experience in an information technology or engineering environment.

Domicile Information: The preferred locations for this hybrid position are Memphis, TN, Dallas, TX, Pittsburgh, PA, or Orlando, FL. However, we will consider candidates based elsewhere within the United States (excluding Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories). Candidates residing within 50 miles of a FedEx campus will be required to work on-site at a FedEx location several times per week

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law. An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. The Company offers eligible employees health, vision and dental insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.

Pay: U.S. Pay Range: $7,094.23/month - $15,607.31/month.
