Make a statewide impact as a senior legal advisor with the Louisiana Department of Health! You'll serves as a senior legal counsel for one of the nine LDH regions (LDH REGION 3) and serves as backup senior legal counsel for LDH Region 2, encompassing multiple parishes. Incumbent performs highly responsible professional and administrative duties and is responsible for independently providing highly technical legal direction, advice, assistance, consultation, representation and having a direct influence on the operation of LDH regional activities involving several major programs under LDH in both regions (including Office of Behavioral Health (OBH), Office for Citizens with Developmental Disabilities (OCDD), Medicaid, Human Resources (HR), Adult Protective Services (APS), Office of Public Health (OPH), and Office of Women's Health, and for LDH facilities and offices located in the assigned regions (Regions 2 and 3). This position provides highly technical legal advice, assistance, and consultation on high profile and complex legal problems to Executive Counsel, General Counsel, and Deputy General Counsels. Incumbent must possess a broad and intensive legal experience in all phases of the legal process regarding health law.
Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus four years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties:
- Serves as senior legal counsel for LDH Region 3 and provides backup legal counsel for LDH Region 2, supporting facilities and offices across multiple parishes.
- Provides independent, highly technical legal direction, advice, consultation, and assistance on complex health law matters affecting LDH regional operations.
- Provides legal counsel and representation to major LDH programs, including Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities, Medicaid, Human Resources, Adult Protective Services, Public Health, and Women's Health.
- Advises regional leadership and program administrators on legal issues, regulatory requirements, policies, and operational matters.
- Researches, analyzes, and interprets applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and legal precedents related to health care and LDH programs.
- Provides highly technical legal advice and consultation to the Executive Counsel, General Counsel, and Deputy General Counsels on high-profile and complex legal matters.
- Performs highly responsible professional and administrative legal duties involving all phases of the legal process and provides experienced legal expertise to support LDH's mission and regional operations.
