Make an Impact Through the Power of the Law! This position is assigned to handle legal matters regarding the Economic Stability Program, which includes but is not limited to SNAP, TANF, FITAP, Kinship Care matters, and the Disability Determination Services (DDS) Program. This attorney position handles not only contract matters relating to these programs, but also general programmatic legal issues, appeals, and civil rights complaints for these programs. This position will also handle public records requests related to these programs.

Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice law plus three years of experience as a practicing attorney.

Job Duties and Other Information

Job Duties:
  • Provides legal counsel and guidance on matters involving the Economic Stability Program, including SNAP, TANF, FITAP, Kinship Care, and Disability Determination Services (DDS).
  • Advises program staff and leadership on legal issues related to the administration and operation of assigned programs.
  • Reviews, drafts, and provides legal guidance on contracts and related agreements supporting Economic Stability Program services and operations.
  • Handles legal appeals and represents the agency in matters arising from the administration of assigned programs.
  • Reviews and responds to civil rights complaints and provides legal guidance regarding applicable civil rights requirements.
  • Researches and interprets applicable federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and legal authorities affecting Economic Stability Programs.
  • Responds to and coordinates public records requests related to assigned programs, ensuring compliance with applicable legal requirements.
