Position SummaryThis position is headquartered in Danville, CA and is on-site. The Applied Technology Services (ATS) Mechanical Engineering Services staff provides engineering, testing and analysis services and expertise across multiple disciplines to various company organizations to identify, diagnose and solve technical problems. The staff provides consultation and advice to clients to proactively avoid future problems by specifying equipment, materials and methods that are best practices in the industry. Services include inspections, failure analysis, performance assessments, and evaluations on a wide variety of systems and components ranging from in-service concrete to hydroelectric turbines to distributed generation. The engineering staff partners with management in the creation of bid proposals for requested client work. The incumbents maintain knowledge of and adhere to all company and regulatory safety and quality processes and procedures.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $90,000
Bay Area Maximum: $136,000
Responsibilities:- Applies basic engineering principles and scientific theory to perform testing, calculations and analysis under direction of senior peers or supervisor.
- Typically assigned to routine work where precedents, standards, protocols and techniques exist.
- May design the tests for assignments/projects and select standards, methods and protocols. Reviews design and protocols with senior peer or supervisor.
- Develops knowledge in a specific ATS area of specialty or discipline.
- Partners with senior technical peers to develop proficiency in a variety of issues. Assists with the more complex projects by compiling and providing technical data.
- Participates on one or more special ATS site initiative teams.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in Engineering with emphasis in a discipline related to assignments. (i.e., mechanical, civil or electrical engineering, etc.)
Desired Qualifications:- BS in Mechanical Engineering
- Masters degree
- PE License
- 2 years related experience
- Basic knowledge in engineering research and testing concepts, theories, practices, methods, techniques.
- Basic investigative skills.
- Communication and interpersonal skills.

- Good organizational and analytical problem solving skills.

- Travel required; frequency depends on assignment (up to 50%).
