Southside Virginia Community College is seeking an experienced, collaborative, and student-centered leader to serve as the Associate Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Services.
Reporting directly to the Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Success, this executive leadership position provides operational leadership for Enrollment Operations, Enrollment Recruitment, Onboarding & Student Experience, Student Accountability & Resolution, and Enrollment Management Technologies. The Associate Vice President partners with the Vice President to implement the College's Strategic Enrollment Management Plan and advance initiatives that strengthen recruitment, enrollment, persistence, completion, and the overall student experience.
The position provides executive operational leadership for Admissions & Records, Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs, and Student Experience, including College Navigators, Recruiters, and Career Coaches. The Associate Vice President also provides administrative oversight of the College's student conduct process, the initial review of student complaints and grievances, and serves as the Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
This position serves all Southside Virginia Community College campuses, centers, and instructional locations and offers an opportunity to help shape the future of a growing community college by leading enrollment operations, strengthening the student experience, and partnering with senior leadership to advance institutional priorities. This is a highly engaged leadership position for an executive who enjoys building teams, improving processes, solving operational challenges, and working closely with staff to deliver exceptional student services.
Key Responsibilities:
The Associate Vice President will:- Provide executive operational leadership for Admissions & Records, Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs, and Student Experience, including College Navigators, Recruiters, and Career Coaches, by partnering with department leaders to ensure operational performance, regulatory compliance, service excellence, staffing, and continuous improvement across these functions.
- Partner with the Vice President to implement the College's Strategic Enrollment Management Plan and advance recruitment, enrollment, persistence, and completion goals.
- Provide functional leadership for EAB Navigate, Salesforce CRM, and other enrollment technologies that support student engagement, communications, and operational effectiveness.
- Provide administrative oversight of student conduct, the initial review of student complaints and grievances, behavioral intervention, threat assessment, and Deputy Title IX Coordinator responsibilities.
- Supervise the Registrar, Coordinator of Financial Aid & Veterans Affairs, and Student Experience Coordinator while developing staff, managing assigned budgets, establishing service standards, and promoting continuous improvement.
- Use data and performance metrics to evaluate enrollment initiatives, support evidence-based decision-making, and improve operational effectiveness.
- Represent the Vice President and the College on assigned committees, partnerships, and external organizations.
Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications - Master's degree from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in Higher Education Administration, Educational Leadership, Student Affairs, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Minimum of five years of progressively responsible administrative leadership experience in higher education, including responsibility for one or more of the following: enrollment management, admissions, recruitment, financial aid, registrar services, retention, student affairs, or student success.
- Demonstrated experience supervising, mentoring, and developing professional staff and building collaborative, high-performing teams
- Demonstrated experience overseeing multiple departments or functional areas, including staffing, service standards, budgets, and resource allocation
- Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic initiatives related to recruitment, enrollment, retention, persistence, completion, or student success
- Demonstrated experience leading strategic planning, organizational change, and cross-functional initiatives, including improving policies, procedures, workflows, and services to increase operational efficiency and improve the student experience
- Demonstrated experience using institutional, enrollment, and student success data to identify trends, evaluate initiatives, inform decisions, and improve outcomes
- Experience using student information systems, CRM platforms, data dashboards, or other enrollment technologies to support recruitment, engagement, enrollment, retention, or operational effectiveness
- Knowledge of federal Title IV financial aid regulations and of federal and state regulations, policies, and compliance requirements for enrollment and student services (e.g., FERPA, Title IX, Clery, ADA/Section 504)
- Demonstrated experience working with senior leadership, faculty, staff, students, and external partners to advance institutional priorities and resolve complex operational or student-related issues
- Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical, communication, and project management skills
Additional Considerations - Demonstrated experience administering federal Title IV financial aid programs.
- Earned a doctorate from a regionally accredited institution
- Community college administrative experience
- Experience within the Virginia Community College System
- Experience leading the implementation of a Strategic Enrollment Management Plan
- Experience serving as an administrator for EAB Navigate, Salesforce CRM, or comparable higher education technologies
- Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft and other student information systems
- Experience administering student conduct, Title IX, student complaints, or behavioral intervention processes
- Experience with accreditation, institutional planning, and organizational effectiveness
