Full Job Description
Under the direction of the Provost, the Associate Vice President for Liberal Arts provides strategic and operational leadership for the Liberal Arts academic division. This position works collaboratively with academic and administrative leaders to advance the College's academic priorities, support student success, strengthen programs and curriculum, and implement divisional and campus-wide initiatives.
The Associate Vice President for Liberal Arts provides leadership in curriculum and program development, assessment, faculty and staff management, budgeting and planning, scheduling, enrollment and recruitment initiatives, external funding opportunities, and other academic priorities. This position also serves as a key member of the Provost's senior leadership team.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to the Provost senior leadership team, helping to formulate and implement present and future academic plans, projects, and assessments
• Provide vision and leadership for curriculum, program, and pedagogical development, including new programs and certificates, technology integration, online learning, and evening, weekend, and intersession programming.
• Lead divisional and cross-divisional initiatives and projects in collaboration with academic affairs, student services, and other College leadership.
• Oversee academic program development and regulatory submissions, including new and revised program proposals to SUNY and the New York State Education Department.
• Lead divisional planning, budgeting, assessment, and continuous improvement efforts to support student learning outcomes, program quality, relevance, and fiscal responsibility.
• Provide oversight of divisional academic operations, including course scheduling, faculty loading, course cancellations, independent studies, academic waivers and substitutions, and related academic processes.
• Provide leadership and oversight of divisional personnel, including recruitment, selection, supervision, evaluation, professional development, additional compensation, and faculty Promotion, Retention, and Tenure processes.
• Support student recruitment, enrollment, and community engagement efforts and represent the College at appropriate higher education, business, community, and industry events.
• Oversee divisional communications and academic publications, including program materials and College catalog content, and ensure information remains accurate and current.
• Co-lead the Academic Affairs Leadership Team (AALT), including meeting coordination, communication, and follow-up, and serve as a resource for resolving student, faculty, and staff concerns in accordance with College policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Education Required: A Master's degree in an academic discipline within the Division or a closely related field.
Experience Required: Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and instructional operations including instruction, curriculum, and accreditation. Teaching experience within an accredited institution of higher education, preferably within a community college. Demonstrated administrative / supervisory leadership experience in progressively responsible positions in an educational setting. Excellent management, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills combined with a collaborative work style, personnel supervision, and project management skills. Demonstrated commitment to and advocacy for the liberal arts curriculum, both internally and externally. Demonstrated ability to maintain a climate of open communication, collegiality, and teamwork within the Division and throughout the College at-large.

Salary range: $117,000 - $133,000 per annum. Commensurate with experience
