What You’ll Be Doing:

As a member of the Structured and Securitized Products (“SSPA”) team, you’ll support the origination, structuring and execution of securitization products within the CIBC Global Credit Financing (“GCF”) business, with a primary focus in the Residential Mortgage (“RESI”) product class.  The Associate’s mandate is to provide exceptional service and support to the Residential Credit Business, CIBC internal partners, and external clients, as they engage in activities that will help support the growth of the U.S. Securitized Products business at CIBC.

CIBC’s GCF team is a financing business focused on the origination, asset financing, and securitization activities of various debt based products for the Bank’s core clients. GCF is a product vertical under Global Markets Financing and Financial Resource Management (“GMF-FRM”) which manages the allocation, deployment, and optimization of financial resources such as capital and balance sheet on behalf of and across the Global Markets Division.

The Capital Markets arm of CIBC provides corporate, government, and institutional clients with innovative solutions to help them raise capital, grow, and invest actively throughout North America and key financial centers around the world. With a strong focus on expanding our presence in the US market, our vision is to be our clients’ preferred capital markets banking partner across multiple products and services.

How You’ll Succeed:

  • Support the execution of all operational activities related to Residential Mortgage business

  • Collaborate with team members on financing, settlement, portfolio monitoring & cash management operations

  • Ability to train and oversee analyst-level individuals in an Operations-centric division

  • Design effective controls and document clear, concise procedures

  • Relationship building – Collaborate with deal teams & business leadership to execute on transaction mandates. This will include interaction with other areas of the trading floor including structured products sales, trading and other capital markets areas at CIBC. This will also include interaction with the client, external rating agencies, investors, and other CIBC partners including Treasury, Risk Management, Finance, Legal, and Compliance.

  • Risk management - Evaluate collateral pools, legal agreements and transaction structures to identify risks and required deliverables to operationalize in a controlled, automated manner.

  • Technology Scalability – Collaborate with Technology stakeholders (internal & external vendors) to continuously identify, track & deliver on enhancements within the platform that reduce cost, build controls & deliver on requirements set by key stakeholders.

  • Client engagement – Proactive and responsive operational point-of-contact for clients.  This includes processing transaction requests, exemplifying SME-level knowledge of the mortgage asset class & defining processes with clients to adopt an efficient working relationship that meets CIBC’s bank standards and data security policies.

Who You Are:

  • You have an undergraduate degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Science, Technology, Engineering or Math. Alternatively, you hold an undergraduate degree in another discipline along with an MBA or a Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, or a directly related field.

  • You can demonstrate at least 5 years of directly related experience, particularly in corporate finance theory, financial analysis, and valuation techniques.

  • You possess strong writing and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain detailed financial analysis.

  • You act like an owner. A results-oriented self-starter who will show a keen interest in the Securitized Products business.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of $125,000 - $140,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
