Overview

HarperCollins Children’s Books is home to some of the most award-winning, bestselling, and beloved children’s books.  We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Publisher to play a key role alongside the SVP, Group Publisher, HarperCollins Children’s Books on the daily operations for the division. The Associate Publisher will work closely with Editorial and Design leadership and coordinate with the Sales, Marketing & Publicity teams, fostering cross-functional relationships and support across the division. They will also work with our colleagues in General Books on cross-divisional collaborations and be heavily involved in supply chain and inventory decisions.  

Responsibilities
  • Partner with the SVP, Group Publisher on the daily operations and strategic priorities of the HarperCollins Children’s Books division.
  • Collaborate with Editorial and Design leadership to support publishing programs and divisional initiatives.
  • Foster strong cross-functional relationships with Sales, Marketing, and Publicity teams to ensure alignment and successful execution of key objectives.
  • Lead and coordinate projects across multiple stakeholders, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and business goals are achieved.
  • Work closely with General Books colleagues on cross-divisional opportunities, initiatives, and publishing programs.
  • Participate in supply chain planning, inventory management, and title performance discussions to support business objectives.
  • Analyze business needs and recommend operational improvements that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as a key liaison across departments, facilitating communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
  • Support the development and execution of divisional strategies that contribute to revenue growth, market presence, and publishing success.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in publishing, sales operations, or a related field; experience in children’s publishing strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional initiatives and managing complex projects from concept through execution.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to balance creative, operational, and commercial priorities.
  • Experience collaborating with editorial, sales, marketing, publicity, and supply chain teams.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A collaborative leadership style with a team-oriented mindset and a commitment to fostering strong partnerships.

The salary range for this position is $200,000-$225,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
