Full Job Description
I. JOB OVERVIEW Job Description Summary: The Associate Program Director, Israel Education directs the administration of the Graduate Degrees in Israel Education in the Graduate School of Education and Human Development. The Associate Program Director, Israel Education will serve as an escalation for program questions from faculty, staff, and students, and will provide management for the program administration. Core responsibilities typically include community outreach and relationship building, academic advising, managing web presence and marketing efforts, creating program materials, managing course evaluations, developing and executing new programming, planning and executing events, managing the program budget, assisting with fellowship and grant opportunities, preparing and analyzing reports, and similar duties. This position assists with outreach to other internal and external stakeholders in order to assist in maintaining standard operational efficiencies. The position is administrative in nature but expands to effectively manage the center. Duties include: - In collaboration with the Program Director, lead the ongoing development and implementation of the program's vision in partnership with faculty and staff, ensuring alignment with student needs and emerging trends in Israel education. - Build and oversee the implementation of core program operations, including recruitment and admission of students, course coordination, and in-person experiences, aligned with the program budget. - Oversee student communication related to program experiences, registration, and ongoing engagement. - Manage the development and growth of an engaged alumni network through programming, committees, and communications channels. - Partner with GW faculty and staff on key functional areas, including website development, marketing, social media, and grant-related reporting. - Assess program components, including in-person experiences, to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and growth. Oversee program evaluation with third-party consultant. - Cultivate relationships with and manage program consultants, student mentors, and guest speakers to ensure alignment with the program's educational approach. - Monitor program-related expenditures against the approved budget and contribute to grant reporting as needed. - Serve as an ad-hoc planner, facilitator, and collaborator across Collaboratory programs and initiatives, as aligned with organizational priorities and subject-matter expertise. - Initiate and contribute to special projects that advance organizational strategy, including initiatives such as Aleph Bet 3.0 and virtual programming. Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. Minimum Qualifications: Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: - Master's Degree in Education, Israel Studies, Jewish Studies, or Middle Eastern Studies is preferred. - Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary Israel, Israeli society, and key issues in Israel education. - Familiarity with current trends, debates, and best practices in the field of Israel education and Jewish experiential education. - Experience developing resources related to Israel education subject matter. - Hebrew language proficiency and/or experience engaging with Israeli institution is desired.
