Role Summary:

We are seeking an Associate to join the Private Funds Operations team within Investment Operations. Reporting to the Manager, Private Funds Operations, this role plays a key leadership function on the team. The Associate is responsible for ensuring the accurate and efficient execution of investment transactions, supervising and mentoring junior colleagues, and driving continuous improvement in processes and controls.

Accountabilities:
  • Partner with colleagues across Investment Departments, Structuring and Business Management, Tax, Treasury, and Finance to ensure accurate and timely recording and funding of investment transactions by proactively identifying and resolving operational issues.
  • Oversee onboarding of new investments, including review of partnership agreements, subscription/disposition documents, and tax structuring agreements.
  • Manage asset servicing of existing investments by reviewing capital call and distribution tickets, validating accounting entries, and ensuring accuracy, completeness of documentation, and proper authorizations.
  • Support the quarterly and annual valuation review process for Private Equity Fund and Direct Investments; provide analysis to identify and explain material valuation movements.
  • Ensure timely completion and accuracy of portfolio and P&L reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with reporting requirements; resolve discrepancies when exceptions occur.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations on operational or business issues; escalate irregular activities or risks promptly.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal investment teams and external asset managers to resolve issues, meet financial controls, and ensure reporting requirements are satisfied.
  • Build expertise in the Private Investments domain and act as a subject matter resource for Investment Operations and accounting matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement by streamlining processes, enhancing controls, and implementing automated solutions to increase efficiency and mitigate risk.
  • Contribute to cross-functional collaboration to align with CPP Investments' vision, goals, and values.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor junior team members; support the Manager in overseeing daily activities.
  • Lead or contribute to special projects and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • Professional designation (CPA, CFA) considered an asset.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of relevant work experience in investment operations or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of Private Assets.
  • Knowledge of Investran and/or SimCorp Dimension is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving priorities and take on new challenges.
  • Advanced analytical, financial, and accounting skills with proficiency in Excel and ability to learn new systems.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Continuous Process Improvement mindset, and can drive change/lead projects
  • Comfortable in leveraging AI to streamline workflows and improve operational efficiency
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across teams.
