Role Summary

Reporting directly to the Medical Director for Hematologic Oncology, the Associate Medical Director will provide a single Medical Affairs voice in the development and execution of the US Medical Affairs Plan in support of a drug's development, launch, and lifecycle management. The Associate Medical Director will be responsible for medical activities including congress activities, coordinating cross-company initiatives, and interaction with external therapeutic area experts in peer-to-peer conversations to inform the continuous evolution of the Medical Plan. This role requires matrix leadership, strong communication skills, as well as the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout Servier in both the Global and U.S. organizations in a manner that fosters and preserves the independence and integrity of the Medical function. The individual must also be viewed as a strong scientific partner who can readily bridge between a cutting-edge research environment and a fast-paced clinical and product development organization.

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Medical team leadership
  • Partner with the Medical Director to develop and execute a Medical Plan including situational analysis, Medical strategy, and operational objectives, initiatives, and tactics.
  • Support the development of training materials for Field Medical, Commercial, and other teams across Servier.


  1. Knowledge generation and education
  • Support the organization in aligning to and collaborating on medical strategic initiatives.
  • Support the medical organization in launching the execution of quarterly medical strategy KPI's.
  • Closely collaborate with R&D, Global Medical, HEOR and medical cross-functional partners including scientific communications in the development of a strategy for the publication of data generated by trials and studies sponsored by Servier.
  • Lead efforts to review and support investigator-initiated trials that align with the Medical strategy.
  • Identify, evaluate and support high-quality medical education programs that address education gaps in the medical community through effective participation in company grant review committee activities.


  1. HCP engagement and patient access
  • Coordinate with Field Medical to ensure appropriate and effective engagement with key HCPs across the country for the purpose of collaborating on strategy initiatives that will support the advancement of patient care.
  • Collaborate with field teams to retrieve real time HCP feedback on key strategy initiatives to inform future strategy directions.
  • Collaborate with Patient Access to support initiatives to improve patient access to Servier's drugs, as appropriate, based on a specific drug's safety and efficacy profile.
  • Plan and execute advisory boards and expert-led roundtables to ensure that Servier's strategy is well-informed by the perspective of health care providers.
  • Collaborate with Medical Information to guide the creation of standard responses to medical information requests.
  • Review and approve all external-facing medical and promotional materials.

Candidate Profile

Education and Required Skills
  • An advanced scientific degree, such as an MD or Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of experience, with 3+ years of Medical Affairs industry experience in Oncology therapeutic products required. Hematology and US experience highly desired.
  • Strategic mindset with proven track record in product launches
  • Ability to analyze trial and published data. Experience with investigator-initiated trials (IITs) / investigator sponsored trials (ISTs) is required.
  • Understanding of, and experience with, the legal, regulatory, and compliance framework applicable to interactions with HCPs, payers, patient advocacy, and other business partners.
  • Experience formulating and executing plans to achieve strategic goals consistent with the long-term interests of an organization.


Travel and Location
  • Boston based hybrid role with 3 days a week in the Seaport Office
  • ~25% Travel for team meetings, conferences


Salary Range

The salary range for this role is $208-$220k. An employee's pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the range may be modified in the future. Employees in this position are also eligible for Short-Term and Long-Term incentive programs.
