Job Description:

Under general supervision, the Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assisting lead mechanical engineers in design/analysis to support mechanical layout of power equipment and other Navy based electronic systems. This person assists in creating equipment layouts that satisfy system requirements and account for tradeoffs among thermal, mass properties, structural, and manufacturing considerations.

Essential Functions:
  • Applies the Solidworks 3D CAD system to the creation of mechanical layouts and drawings.
  • Develops detailed fabrication and assembly drawings and performs tolerances analysis.
  • Designs interconnecting brackets and support structure between components and subsystems.
  • Assists the lead mechanical engineer in cost estimates and components selection.
  • Conducts simpler thermal and structural analyses under the guidance of lead mechanical engineers.
  • Provides engineering support to system integration efforts, including production support.
  • Coordinates and executes engineering design changes and performs some checking work.
  • Uses established and well defined engineering procedures.


Qualifications:
  • To be eligible, applicants must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering or have completed their Bachelor's degree within the last 12 months, regardless of age.


In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C, Denver, or NYC areas is $68,000.00 - $126,000.00. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
