The Associate Manager, Underwriting is responsible for building and developing a high-performance Advisor/Broker Underwriting team that strives to deliver a market-leading service experience for plan sponsors, while managing earnings to target. This role fosters a culture of excellence and collaboration, ensuring that the team works across Account Managers, Underwriters and Analysts, partnering to retain and grow the business. This role will focus on workflow planning and management, underwriter development and all operational aspects of the Underwriting functions, specifically in the Mid-Market Accounts space. This role is critical in providing technical guidance and mentoring for the day-to-day issues and escalating these to senior leadership for underwriting policy consideration and development.

What you will do

  • Deliver market-leading service standards; lead, motivate and mentor team to meet and aspire to exceed service and quality standards.
  • Block management, including accountability for interpretation of UW policies and aligning day-to-day operations to achieve block performance indicators such as renewal execution, earnings, sales and persistency.
  • Actively seek out pain points for employees, advisors and customers and pursue continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Recommend UW policy changes based on day-to-day operational outcomes, system changes, regulatory changes or industry trends.
  • Passionately pursue a culture of employee empowerment leading to an exceptional customer experience as well as long and fulfilling employee career paths.

The base salary for this position is between $75,500 - $125,800 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
