Description

The Knowledge Bank's Metalsand Minerals Solutions and Innovation team (KIMSI) is responsible for ensuringthat the right mix of best practice, investment and advisory solutions are madeavailable to our clients and WBG operational teams in the Metals and Mineralssectors. Our responsibilities include client relationship management, businessgrowth through deal origination and execution, and portfolio supervision of complexprojects.

Duties and Accountabilities:
• Work with senior team members to identify, build and maintain strong relationships with strategic mining clients as well as banking and multilateral partners globally and help develop a strong pipeline of good quality investment opportunities.
• Work closely with other members of the IFC Metals & Minerals team, regional infrastructure teams, country managers and WBG officers to develop the Metals & Minerals pipeline, strengthen portfolio supervision and explore mining-related infrastructure opportunities.
• Collaborate with regional teams in developing sector and/or regional strategies and support related policy advisory or pre-investment ("upstream") work.
• Review and analyze business opportunities, synthesize information into internal reports for decision making purposes.
• Work with senior team members to help evaluate, structure, negotiate, and close new transactions, supervise portfolio projects, portfolio restructurings, capital increases, equity sales, etc. including working on financial models with investment analysts and preparing investment review documents, credit memorandum etc.
• Use strong negotiation skills to develop solutions and overcome impasses in straightforward and complex transactions and portfolio management.
• Coordinate closely with social, environmental, and technical assistance colleagues to add value to our clients' businesses, find pragmatic solutions to the specific sector challenges, and achieve sustainable development impact.
• Contribute to dissemination of knowledge about mining within the broader infrastructure team via knowledge pieces, contribution to sector strategies, presentations, case studies, etc.
• Active participation in cross-functional project teams, mentor and develop analysts in the team.

Selection Criteria
• MBA or equivalent qualification
• 4-5 years of experience with a development finance institution (DFI), an international financial institution, a private equity firm or a development organization with tasks related to financing infrastructure projects in emerging markets
• Proven track-record of successfully sourcing, structuring and closing investments in the metals and minerals sector
• Knowledge of the other various infra core sectors (power, transportation, utilities) will be a plus; equity investment and debt project finance experience is essential
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Strong credit skills
• Demonstrated by track record and ability to focus on clients' needs effectively
• Willingness to travel
• Financial skills: demonstrated ability to structure a variety of complex financial instruments (debt and equity) and financial modeling
• Strong record of portfolio management of complex projects
• Sound business judgment in identifying potential business partners
• Ability to interact directly and independently with the management of potential clients, financial and technical partners as well as government officials.
• Strong inter-personal skills, ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues from various cultural backgrounds
• Proven ability to mentor junior investment staff such as investment analysts
• Highly motivated, committed to highest ethical standards
• Genuine commitment to sustainable development
