What You'll Be Doing

CIBC's Electronic Trading desk is looking for a Retail Flow Trader to support and manage retail trading activity within a dynamic electronic trading environment.

As an Associate, you'll execute and oversee retail trading flow across electronic channels, ensuring timely and accurate transactions for our clients. You'll provide extended coverage, which may include early mornings, late evenings, or overnight shifts as our platform expands globally. You'll monitor positions, orders, and system activity to ensure seamless trading operations, and collaborate with internal partners in Technology, Operations, and Post Trade to resolve issues and ensure proper trade processing. You'll assist with trade reporting, reconciliation, and continuous process improvements, while maintaining adherence to internal risk controls, compliance standards, and operational procedures. As part of our team, you'll also contribute to the development and optimization of electronic trading workflows and systems.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $125,000.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate's skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

  • Retail Trading Flow Management - Efficiently manage retail trading flow within a high-volume, fast-paced environment, ensuring timely and accurate transactions.

  • Issue Resolution and Quality Assurance - Proactively address trading, system, and workflow issues while ensuring accuracy in execution, reporting, and reconciliation to maintain compliance and operational excellence.

Who You Are
  • You have relevant experience. You bring 2-5+ years of experience in equities trading, electronic trading, or retail flow environments. You understand electronic trading workflows and platforms.
  • You're committed to professional development. Completion of Canadian Investment Regulatory Exam (CIRE), Institutional Securities Exam (ISE), Trader Exam, or Derivatives Exam (or working toward these) is preferred.
  • You have strong market knowledge. You possess a solid understanding of Canadian and U.S. equity markets.
  • You're flexible and adaptable. You manage changing priorities and working hours, including early mornings, late evenings, or overnight shifts, and excel in a fast-paced environment.
  • You're analytical and organized. You apply strong analytical and organizational skills, along with attention to detail, to drive operational excellence and efficiently navigate complex trading systems.
  • You're a clear communicator. You build strong relationships with internal stakeholders through effective communication.
  • You're proficient with trading platforms. Experience with platforms such as Bloomberg, IRESS, or Fidessa is an asset.
