Full Job Description
What You'll Be Doing

As a junior trader, you will help run and grow our Corporate/Issuer Equity Derivatives franchise. You will assist in pricing, hedging, booking, and risk-managing the full corporate product suite, including Forward Sales, Convertible-linked Call Spreads and Capped Calls, Prepaid Variable Forwards and Collars, and Accelerated Share Repurchases. Additionally, you will support institutional notes business lines such as Buy-Writes and Synthetic Convertibles.

How You'll Succeed
  • Run the book day-to-day, supporting pricing and marks, and executing and managing delta and other hedges.
  • Own the trade lifecycle end-to-end, from execution through settlement, including physical-share/144A mechanics and the segregated physical-shares account.
  • Partner with the structurer and quant teams to implement new instruments and validate their pricing, booking, and lifecycle.
  • Work alongside Trade and Product Control to reconcile bookings and P&L across the client, hedge, and funding legs.
  • Coordinate with Financial Resources and Treasury to ensure borrow and funding costs don't quietly erode deal P&L.
  • Build the desk's operational infrastructure-deal database, hedging and payout tools, and automated daily reporting-replacing manual workarounds with reliable, repeatable tooling.

Who You Are
  • This is a genuine trading track: the desk lead currently holds the risk book, and the right hire will grow from managing its mechanics into taking risk as they develop. While a strong risk-taking instinct is a genuine plus, it is a secondary concern rather than the primary requirement. The ideal candidate is a resourceful junior based in New York, with exposure to corporate and equity derivatives and real trade-lifecycle fluency, who wants to sit on a desk, learn the book thoroughly, and help build the business.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary of $150,000 for the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee's needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k), in addition to other special perks reserved for our team members.

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location. Additional total compensation and benefits details will be provided during the hiring process.
