Full Job Description
About the role

The Associate Director, Patient Access Operations is a launch-critical operational leader responsible for translating Patient Access strategy into coordinated, disciplined execution across CG Oncology's patient access, digital, vendor, and launch-readiness initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Director, Patient Access, this role will manage integrated plans, milestones, dependencies, risks, decisions, and execution across multiple Patient Access workstreams and help ensure launch-critical capabilities are delivered on time and to the required standard.

The Associate Director will work closely with Patient Access leadership and cross-functional partners across Market Access, Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Medical, IT, Legal, Compliance, Trade & Distribution, and other functions to convert strategic direction into executable workplans. The role will also provide operational oversight of Patient Access vendors and partners, helping coordinate business rules, workflows, standard operating procedures, training, technology, reporting, testing, and go-live activities.

This is a highly visible, hands-on position for an experienced operator who can bring structure to complex initiatives, anticipate execution risks, facilitate decisions, and drive accountability across teams without relying on direct authority. The successful candidate will be comfortable moving between detailed program management, vendor coordination, cross-functional problem solving, and concise leadership reporting in a fast-paced, launch-stage biotechnology environment.

Essential Functions

Patient Access Program & Portfolio Management
  • Develop, maintain, and manage integrated project plans across Patient Access initiatives, including milestones, dependencies, decision points, risks, and critical-path activities.
  • Establish consistent operating rhythms including status reviews, action tracking, decision logs, risk management, and leadership reporting.
  • Translate Patient Access strategy and leadership direction into defined workstreams, owners, timelines, and measurable deliverables.
  • Coordinate multiple concurrent initiatives and proactively surface dependencies or delays that could affect launch readiness.
  • Prepare clear portfolio-level updates highlighting progress, risks, decisions required, and mitigation actions.

Launch Readiness & Implementation
  • Lead day-to-day coordination of operational readiness for Patient Access capabilities supporting commercialization, including HUB/patient services, digital patient and HCP experiences, affordability and access programs, and related initiatives.
  • Coordinate business requirements, workflows, SOP development, training, technology, testing, reporting, and go-live activities across functional owners and vendors.
  • Support definition of launch-readiness criteria, monitor completion, identify gaps, and escalate launch-critical issues to Patient Access leadership.
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, operational simulations, readiness assessments, and implementation activities as needed.
  • Support change management and operational adoption across Patient Access capabilities, ensuring impacted internal teams, field organizations, and vendor partners are prepared for new processes, tools, roles, and ways of working.
  • Help ensure programs are scalable and prepared to support both launch and post-launch demand

HUB, Vendor & Partner Governance
  • Manage day-to-day operational coordination with the Patient Services HUB and other Patient Access vendors and partners.
  • Monitor deliverables, timelines, risks, dependencies, service expectations, and contractual commitments in partnership with Patient Access leadership.
  • Support financial and contract administration across Patient Access vendors, including tracking SOW deliverables, purchase orders, invoices, forecasts, and spend against approved budgets in partnership with Patient Access leadership and Finance.
  • Facilitate governance meetings, maintain action and decision logs, and ensure timely follow-through on issues and escalations.
  • Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to operationalize approved business rules, workflows, reporting requirements, documentation, and escalation pathways.
  • Identify execution gaps early and work with appropriate owners to implement corrective actions.

Operational Excellence, Business Rules & Documentation
  • Coordinate the development and maintenance of Patient Access operational documentation, including business rules, process maps, decision logs, SOP inputs, governance materials, and launch-readiness documentation.
  • Help establish consistent operating processes and controls that support compliant and scalable program execution.
  • Partner with Patient Access leadership to develop KPIs, dashboards, and reporting requirements.
  • Analyze operational data, program insights, and stakeholder feedback to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, time to therapy, provider experience, and patient experience.
  • Maintain documentation as program design, payer dynamics, technology, and business requirements evolve.

Cross-Functional Execution & Coordination
  • Serve as an operational connector across Patient Access, Market Access, Commercial, Sales, Marketing, Medical, IT, Legal, Compliance, Trade & Distribution, and other launch partners.
  • Facilitate working sessions, clarify responsibilities, manage dependencies, and coordinate handoffs across internal teams, field organizations, vendors, and the HUB.
  • Identify potential misalignment or delayed decisions that could create downstream risk and escalate issues with recommended actions.
  • Build productive working relationships across functions and create accountability through transparency, organization, and consistent follow-through.

Patient Journey & Access Experience
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the end-to-end patient access journey, including enrollment, benefits investigation, prior authorization, appeals, affordability support, treatment initiation, and ongoing support.
  • Incorporate patient, caregiver, and provider needs into operational design and implementation decisions.
  • Partner with Patient Access leadership and other stakeholders to identify friction points, delays, and process gaps.
  • Coordinate implementation of approved solutions intended to reduce barriers and improve the patient and provider experience.

Compliance, Risk & Governance
  • Support compliant execution of Patient Access programs in accordance with applicable legal, regulatory, privacy, and company requirements.
  • Work closely with Legal and Compliance to operationalize approved program rules, controls, guidance, and SOPs.
  • Maintain disciplined risk and issue tracking and escalate material concerns appropriately.
  • Help ensure Patient Access program and vendor documentation is complete, current, and audit-ready where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Experience with pharmaceutical or biotechnology product launch planning and implementation strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with HUB/patient services vendors, case management programs, field reimbursement teams, digital patient support platforms, or related patient access capabilities preferred.
  • Urology, oncology or specialty product experience preferred.
  • Strong project and program management capabilities, including integrated planning, milestone tracking, risk management, governance, and executive reporting.
  • Working knowledge of patient access and reimbursement processes, including benefits investigation, prior authorization, appeals, affordability support, coding/billing, and patient support services.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment and drive outcomes through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear decisions, actions, and executive updates.
  • High degree of ownership, judgment, organization, attention to detail, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
