Associate Director of Research, National Institute for Student Success

The National Institute for Student Success (NISS)

Georgia State University

The Associate Director of the NISS Incubator is responsible for the planning, operation and management of new and current research and development project associated with the Institute. The position will have accountability over all R&D programs and will work with faculty and staff in the development of new innovations in student success programs and outcomes. Projects will include advancements in chatbot technology, financial intervention, predictive and data analytics, proactive advising, online outreach and engagement, alternative education, student outreach, and other ideations brought to and crafted in the Incubator operation. The position is accountable for ensuring accurate, precise, reproducible, presentable, and publishable works on existing and new technologies and innovations in student success praxis. The scope of responsibility for this position crosses multiple areas of enrollment service programs, with a heavy focus on the overall improvement of retention, progression, and graduation rates, especially amongst student from historically underserved backgrounds.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Lead all NISS Research & Development efforts from project inception to completion/revenue generation; meet or exceed all deliverables associated with R&D, new product development, and financials


  • Provide project management oversight and technical leadership as needed for
    new program development and research projects, and oversee project activities and development of new concepts, program proposals, and research
    on student outcomes


  • Lead NISS-related research projects in the Incubator, including responsibility for all documentation relative to contracts, narrative , !RB , data, Intellectual Property, and publications, while following all regulatory, state and university protocols in the development and submission of all funding applications, patent applications and grant proposals


  • Work closely with the Division of Student Success Data Analytics unit to identify new technologies that will enhance the knowledge base for enrollment services and student success


  • In conjunction with the Division of Student Success Data Analytics unit, establish and maintain research and project collaborations with NISS and GSU partners, while leading unit staff through effective planning, mentoring, directing and coordination of development activity

Qualifications:

Minimum Hiring Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and four years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications:

  • PhD is preferred

• Demonstrated success leading research, evaluation, or R&D projects from inception through completion.
• Record of producing high-quality research or evaluation work related to student success or organizational impact.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience supporting grant-funded research, evaluation, or program development projects.
• Experience using data analytics to generate insights and clearly communicate findings from complex analyses.
• Knowledge of research and evaluation design, with the ability to execute independent projects.

Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, precise, and reproducible data products.
• Ability to design studies, collect and analyze data, and contribute to publishable reports or manuscripts.
• Experience collaborating across departments or institutions to compile, analyze, interpret, and report data.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and deliver presentations.
• Previous supervisory and/or managerial experience
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
