Job Title: Director of AthleticsQualifications: The person in this position should have the following credentials:
- demonstrated knowledge of interscholastic athletics
- previous experience in coaching
- previous experience in athletic administration
- an ability to generate corporate and private support
- demonstrated experience in athletic facilities development and maintenance
- knowledge of post-secondary athletic activity
- principal experience preferred
Reports To: This person is directly responsible to the Associate Superintendent Operations
Job Goal: The person in this position shall provide leadership and direction for all school athletic directors and coaches and assist in the coordination of all athletic programs throughout the District.
Performance Responsibilities and Services: - coordination of middle and high school athletic programs
- compliance with District Policies and with SC High School League rules and regulations
- coordinate with the District's Director of Facilities and Construction and the Director of Operations and Maintenance the development and maintenance of all athletic facilities
- create corporate and private sector support for athletic programs
- assist in accountability for all athletic programs to include intramurals
- provide education and leadership for athletic administrators and coaches in risk management
- provide guidance to schools in NCAA eligibility issues as this position is the NCAA Eligibility Center contact for the district
- coordinate with the Human Resources and Payroll Departments for proper administration of personnel functions and payroll processing
- keep current all athletic communications for the Athletic Directors' Handbook and the district-wide athletic website
- administration of District funds designated for athletic use
- coordination of the district-wide athletic training program
- parent ombudsman for any parent athletic concerns and issues that come to the central office
- assist in staffing of coaching needs at schools
- provide for and coordinate staff development for coaches and school athletic directors
- annual in-service training for ADs and pre-season coaches workshops
- required 1st Aid, CPR, and AED training all SCHSL required training for coaches
- required CDL-S training for all coaches who drive activity buses
- administer bidding process for multi-school cooperative bids
- serves as a member of the district's Emergency Response Team (DERT) and Inclement Condition Evaluation (ICE) Team
- perform other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisors
Terms of Employment:
Twelve months with salary in Administrative/Supervisory Schedule, Grade C
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provision of Board policy.
