Business Manager III

Department of Counseling & Psychological Services

The Business Manager provides leadership and oversight for the administrative and financial operations of the department and works closely with the Department Chair to support departmental priorities and strategic planning. This position manages significant and diverse financial resources, including a $5.1 million state-funded budget, more than $10 million in externally funded grants and contracts, and approximately $1.6 million in foundation funds.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the department's $5.1 million state-funded budget, including budget planning, monitoring, financial reporting, reconciliation, projections, and resource allocation.

  • Provide oversight of more than $10 million in externally funded grants and contracts, ensuring compliance with university and sponsor requirements.
  • Manage multiple foundation accounts with a combined total of approximately $1.6 million in endowments and spendable funds.
  • Oversee departmental financial transactions, purchasing, reimbursements, reporting, and other fiscal operations.
  • Supervise administrative, fiscal, and grants staff, including performance management, workload coordination, and professional development.
  • Oversee departmental human resources activities, including hiring, onboarding, payroll-related processes, and personnel transactions.
  • Coordinate departmental facilities, inventory, technology, equipment, and renovation needs.
  • Manage continuing education activities, special events, scholarships, and other departmental initiatives.
  • Partner closely with the Department Chair on budgeting, staffing, resource allocation, facilities, and operational and strategic planning.
  • Ensure departmental business practices comply with university policies, procedures, sponsor requirements, and applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate facilities management projects in collaboration with Design & Construction Services, the College Facilities Manager, and external vendors.
