Job Description:

I. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Associate Director of HR Systems & Operations is a key operational leader within the Human Resources department and provides technical oversight, system administration, data analytics, and operational management of the College's HCM (Workday), data analytics, payroll processes, and staff compensation frameworks. The Associate Director bridges strategic operations with hands-on technical execution, ensuring data integrity, pay equity, legal compliance, and continuous optimization of HR workflows. This role serves as the deputy lead for the Systems & Operations team, acting on behalf of the Director in their absence and providing operational supervision to assigned staff or student workers.

As a member of the HR team, this position is essential to employee and community service and experience. The incumbent must feel comfortable working in an often fast-paced organizational framework with shifting and evolving responsibilities. This position collaborates with other HR staff, and a variety of other College offices to meet the department goals, and further the mission of the department and the College. This position participates as a committed member and leader of the Human Resources team in college and division committee work, projects, meetings, events, and overall community development.

II. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

HRIS Management & Analytics
  • Owns and manages the HR data collection, analytics, and reporting functions. Designs, generates, and analyzes standard and ad-hoc reports to drive data-informed decision-making.
  • Analyzes workforce trends-such as recruitment, turnover, hiring practices, performance and compliance with employment laws and regulations - and makes recommendations for policies and activities to improve the organizational culture.
  • Partners with other HR staff to run audit reports, verify employee data changes, and maintain the absolute integrity of the HR databases and systems.
  • Assists other HR staff in leveraging HR technology to optimize HR workflows, configure compensation structures, and troubleshoot system processes.
  • Assists with and supports all HCM and payroll operations to guarantee timely and accurate processing in strict adherence to internal policies and government regulations.


Compensation Management
  • Leads the day-to-day administration of staff compensation programs, ensuring consistent application of the salary administration program, internal pay equity, and market competitiveness.
  • Partners and collaborates efficiently with supervisors and campus partners to provide guidance, training, and verification for compensation-related decisions, job descriptions, and promotions.
  • Conducts regular market pricing, bench-marking, and participation in salary surveys to evaluate the College's competitive positioning.
  • Ensures all compensation practices adhere to federal, state, and local laws, including FLSA exemptions, pay transparency mandates, and pay equity regulations.
  • May conduct or assist with conducting classification and compensation audits to ensure that jobs are properly classified (grade, FLSA status, etc.).


Team Collaboration, Support, and Special Projects
  • Work professionally in a team-oriented environment assisting and guiding other HR staff as appropriate and as needed.
  • Assist, lead, plan, implement, and administer department initiatives, special projects, and events as assigned.
  • Assists in the development, review, and updating of HR guidelines, policies, rules, and standard operating procedures, implementing best practice approaches designed to maximize the effectiveness of employees in serving the core mission of the College.
  • Serves on campus-wide committees and engage in College-wide activities, projects, and tasks as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


III. SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE/ EDUCATION/ CERTIFICATIONS:

1. Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Business Analytics, or related field required.
  • At least five years of professional experience in HR with a strong focus on payroll, compensation, HRIS, or analytics).
  • Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to interpret complex data sets and translate them into actionable insights.
  • Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods.
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving areas of employment (e.g. compensation, FLSA, EEO).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to deescalate conflict and synthesize complex regulatory, technical, or financial information into clear, culturally responsive, and actionable guidance for a diverse campus community.
  • Proficient with technology (Google suite, Microsoft Office Suite or related software, HRIS, payroll systems, and similar employee management software).
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team player, working collaboratively with peers and senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence and the ability to manage sensitive interpersonal campus dynamics.


2. Preferred
  • Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Business Analytics, or related field.
  • Experience in an institution of higher education.
  • Experience with using Workday.
  • CCP (Certified Compensation Professional), SHRM-CP, or other comparable certification.
  • Experience public speaking and comfort presenting to groups.


Alternatives to formal education and paid work experience may be considered as equivalent qualifications to include military service/training, volunteering, activism, and other non-traditional programs and experiences related to the position.

Starting Salary: $97,130 - $106,015
