Overview
The Associate Director of Network Engineering & Lab Support is responsible for the strategy, reliability, security, and operational excellence of Celldex’s enterprise network and laboratory technology environments across all locations, with a strategic focus on Fall River, MA. This role provides leadership over on‑premise data center operations, network infrastructure, lab systems support, and vendor-managed services, ensuring these environments meet business needs, regulatory requirements, and long-term scalability. The Network Engineer will work with users as a first line of support for lab related needs in the Fall River Office, and coordinate Lab projects, support, and functions with the IT Business Partner located in Fall River. The Support Engineer will follow all IT SOP’s, Policies, Guidelines and Work Instructions.
Responsibilities
- Laise with IT staff, determine necessary technology advances, and educate employees on the use of software and hardware used in day-to-day operations.
- Act as the primary liaison for the Infrastructure team to initiate, monitor, manage, and coordinate escalation and resolution of issues requiring support from vendors, service providers, or other IT team members
- Oversee maintenance for network devices, servers, workstations, and mobile devices in the Lab Environments.
- Support the implementation of network security controls aligned with internal security strategy and frameworks.
- Support vulnerability management, penetration testing remediation, and audit findings related to infrastructure and lab systems.
- Ensure secure access, segmentation, and data protection across lab and enterprise environments.
- Actively manage infrastructure and lab technology risk, escalating issues appropriately to IT leadership.
- Accountable for day-to-day operations of network devices, servers, workstations, and mobile devices within lab and enterprise environments.
- Govern incident, problem, change, and maintenance processes, including patching, upgrades, and planned downtime.
- Ensure compliance with all IT SOPs, policies, guidelines, and work instructions.
- Develop, maintain, and enforce SOPs, runbooks, and technical standards.
- Provide strategic oversight of laboratory IT environments, including instrument connectivity, lab systems infrastructure, and scientific application dependencies.
- Ensure lab environments comply with GxP, Part 11, data integrity, and validation requirements, in partnership with Quality and Validation.
- Support and govern infrastructure aspects of lab and research systems (e.g., ELN, LIMS, instrument control systems).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or scientific discipline or equivalent work experience.
- 8+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure, network engineering, or lab IT support and 2+ years in a leadership or senior technical role.
- Experience supporting life sciences or regulated (GxP) environments.
- Experience with enterprise networking, remote access, desktop/server environments, and vendor-managed services.
- Highly communicative, consultative in nature, and demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, resolve issues, and make practical recommendations and plans.
- Takes ownership of end-user issues and is proactive when interacting with end users to resolve issues
- Maintains a high degree of customer service for end user requests while adhering to all IT policies and SOPs.
- Be diligent and self-motivated, with an eagerness to learn and excel in a high-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities or timelines.
- Must be able to move hardware devices among communications and server racks.
- Be willing to travel occasionally to other Celldex offices in Connecticut and New Jersey.
- Working knowledge of terminal services, remote desktop connection and other remote access support tools.
- Working knowledge of desktop/laptop imaging.
Compensation
The expected base salary range for this position is $153,616 to $199,501.We are committed to compensating employees equitably based on several factors including experience, education, licensure/certifications, skill level, location of the position, and availability of similar talent in a competitive market.
Compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary bonus, long term incentive, 401(K) plan with employer contribution, health care and other insurance benefits (for employee and family), paid holidays, vacation, and sick days.
