The Opportunity What does it take to build a medical school that can help shape the future of healthcare in Ontario? It takes more than exceptional physicians and educators. It takes the relationships, policies, partnerships, and academic environment that enable faculty to thrive and focus on what matters most: educating the next generation of physicians and improving the health of the communities they serve.
As Associate Director, Faculty Affairs, you'll play a pivotal role in helping build that foundation for TMU's School of Medicine-Ontario's newest medical school in 50 years. Working as part of the Vice-Provost, Faculty Affairs team, you'll provide strategic advice, analysis, and thoughtful guidance on complex clinical faculty and academic relations matters, with a particular focus on medical education and the unique needs of the School of Medicine.
You'll serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, helping navigate matters involving clinical faculty appointments, professional development, academic relations, appeals, grievances, and emerging clinical faculty initiatives and policies. Your ability to understand complex issues related to medical education and medical school accreditation, build consensus, and provide practical recommendations will help foster an environment where clinical faculty and leaders at the School of Medicine can collaborate effectively and contribute to TMU's growing academic mission.
A key part of your role will be building strong, collaborative partnerships with senior leaders across the School of Medicine and the broader university. You'll work across academic departments, Faculties, and central administration to understand emerging needs, develop solutions, and successfully implement policies, programs, and initiatives that support faculty and strengthen academic relationships.
You'll also help bring different perspectives together by connecting the School of Medicine with university-wide expertise while ensuring that the distinctive needs of medical education and clinical faculty are understood and thoughtfully addressed. Through collaboration, sound judgment, and a commitment to constructive relationships, you'll help create the strong institutional foundation needed for a new medical school to flourish.
This is an opportunity to help shape something much bigger than a role or a program. You'll help build the academic environment and partnerships that support a new generation of physicians, educators, and researchers and, ultimately, contribute to a stronger healthcare system for Ontario.
If you're a strategic and relationship-focused leader who thrives in complex environments, believes that strong institutions are built on trust and collaboration, and wants to play a meaningful role in shaping the future of medical education, this is an opportunity to make your mark at TMU.
