What you’ll be doing...As the Associate Director of Education Initiatives, you will architect, lead, and scale Verizon’s newly established Education Initiatives pillar within the Responsible Business Group. You will expand Verizon’s educational scope to serve learners of all stages—from K-12 students to adult learners—building integrated learning frameworks that directly support our CSR programs. This leader will take full strategic ownership of our overarching education strategy while maintaining operational excellence over our multi-year commitments, including the Verizon Innovative Learning (VIL) portfolio. You will manage a team of project managers, pioneer innovative learning models, and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders—ensuring Verizon’s educational investments deliver measurable societal impact, strengthen communities, and bring long-term enterprise value.
Responsibilities will include:
Owning the long-term strategic direction, framework design, and expansion of Verizon’s new Education Initiatives pillar, broadening our social impact scope to serve learners across all age demographics.
Managing and fulfilling Verizon’s multi-year operational commitments across the existing Verizon Innovative Learning (VIL) portfolio, ensuring rigorous oversight, partner engagement and performance, and progress toward public-facing goals over the next four years.
Designing and launching innovative, non-traditional learning models that bridge digital equity gaps and integrate seamlessly across Verizon’s other Responsible Business verticals (including workforce development and AI readiness).
Directing a multi-million dollar budget and portfolio, establishing clear governance, operational rigor, and resource allocation across new and established educational initiatives.
Partnering closely with teams across Corporate Affairs to align educational strategies with core business priorities and maximize enterprise-wide value.
Collaborating with Business Intelligence and CMI teams to design and implement measurement frameworks that track learner outcomes, programmatic effectiveness, and long-term societal ROI.
Serving as an internal and external thought leader on educational access and innovation, amplifying Verizon’s impact across national forums, public-private coalitions, and strategic partner networks.
Providing strategic direction and leadership for a team of project managers, effectively removing organizational barriers to drive end-to-end programmatic success and long-term sustainability.
Engaging routinely with senior leadership to present and discuss critical strategic and operational results and recommendations related to the initiative.
What we’re looking for...You’ll need to have:
Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
Eight or more years of relevant experience required, demonstrated through one or a combination of work and/or military experience, or specialized training.
Direct work experience in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) or Responsible Business.
Demonstrated track record of managing CSR, education, or adult learning programs—managing program budgets, leading cross-functional project teams, and scaling community-focused portfolios.
Proven experience executing complex, multi-disciplinary initiatives with challenging milestones and aggressive targets.
Experience building consensus and collaborating across all levels of leadership and enterprise business units.
Proficiency in all Google Drive applications, with an ability to create visually compelling content that communicates complicated information in an engaging way.
Willingness to travel as needed.

Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to represent Verizon in high-stakes meetings, public events, and media forums.
Familiarity with the evolving education landscape, digital equity challenges, and learning/upskilling methodologies.
Proven ability to translate complex social impact goals into measurable, data-driven business outcomes.

In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes working from home and a minimum of three days per week in the office, which will be set by your manager. Employees are responsible for maintaining compliance with hybrid work policies.

The salary will vary depending on your location and confirmed job-related skills and experience. This is an incentive based position with the potential to earn more. For part-time roles, your compensation will be adjusted to reflect your hours.
The annual salary range for the location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $103,000.00 - $198,000.00.
The annual salary range for the New York location(s) listed on this job requisition based on a full-time schedule is: $113,500.00 - $198,000.00.
