Description:Your opportunity:Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, Advancement, the Associate Director, Development will proactively cultivate, solicit and steward a major gift ($50,000+) portfolio and contribute broadly to the strategic planning process to develop programs and initiatives that deepen donor engagement and support. This will entail the development of customized campaign strategies and individualized strategic approaches, including materials and events, as well as the managing of projects with volunteers and/or divisional staff.
The Associate Director will also ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift to maintain the donors' involvement, interest and support. The incumbent will also be responsible for the supervision of the Senior Development Officers and Development Officers, as directed.
Your responsibilities will include:- Meeting face-to-face with current and potential donors to discuss giving interests and opportunities
- Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and recognition
- Identifying, evaluating and recommending the necessary steps to bring the prospect closer to making a major financial commitment to the University
- Cultivating and soliciting current and prospective major gift donors through tailored stewardship programs
- Leading all stages of proposal development for the advancement portfolio
- Developing and implementing donor engagement plans that support strategic objectives
- Developing and implementing plans to support donor management and stewardship strategies and/or activities
- Producing complex donor reports
Essential Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Six to seven years directly related experience in a senior fundraising role
- Demonstrated experience with major gift development ($50,000+)
- Proven track record of success
- Experience managing senior level volunteers
- Experience supervising staff, preferably in a unionized environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communications (both written and verbal)
- Strong analytical skills
- Highly developed relationship building skills working with all levels of stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines
