Full Job Description
Summary:

The Associate Dean for Program Development will report to the Dean and provide strategic leadership and oversight for program development within the designated school or program. This will include oversight of existing academic, research, and/or professional programs, and current and future programs as assigned. The incumbent is responsible for developing and supervising the implementation of new educational and professional development programs within the designated school or program and evaluating all aspects of new and current programs while working closely with the Dean and Associate Deans to support the operations of the designated school.

Scope:

As designated: academic, research, and/or professional program allows use across GSBS, JSSOM, SHP, SON, or SPPH

Responsibilities:
  • Leads the planning, execution, and assessment of designated school or program.
  • Leads the development of new programs and/or educational tracks, certificates or concentrations.
  • Develops new courses and curricular plans for new programs.
  • Leads course and program assessments and assists in curricular revisions.
  • Collaborates with faculty, program directors and designated school or program leadership to ensure curricula reflect best educational practices in biomedical science education, emerging scientific areas, and workforce-relevant skills.
  • Supports the development of training grant-aligned curricula and professional development initiatives.
  • Works with programs, departments and designated school leadership to develop externally funded training programs.
  • Plans and executes or supports professional development activities in collaboration with programs, designated leadership and staff.
  • Oversees student lab selection process to ensure adequate resources and environments to support student training.
  • Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
  • Performs related duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD or MD in field related to designate school or program plus five (5) years of leadership experience within an academic health science center and/or research-intensive institution directing educational programs.
  • An exemplary track record of mentoring faculty, graduate, and/or undergraduate students.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Seven (7) years of leadership experience.
