Position OverviewWe are seeking an Associate Application Developer to join our team in developing network automation applications for the Federal Reserve System. In this role, you will apply DevOps methodologies and CI/CD practices to build self-healing infrastructure applications that minimize manual operations across our enterprise network and security platforms.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement network automation applications that enable self-healing infrastructure capabilities
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate deployment and operations of network and security platform applications
- Reduce manual operational overhead through intelligent application development across the Federal Reserve System's infrastructure
- Develop and monitor infrastructure health metrics through custom applications to optimize network performance and stability
- Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams to deliver robust automation applications
- Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously expand technical expertise in network automation and infrastructure development
Required Skills & QualificationsProgramming & Application Development- Proficiency in Python (required)
- Experience with additional programming languages applicable to automation application development
Network Automation & Infrastructure- Understanding of network and security infrastructure components including switches, routers, and firewalls
- Experience with policy-based and software-defined networking automation applications
- Knowledge of network orchestration principles
DevOps & CI/CD- Hands-on experience with mature CI/CD processes and tools
- Familiarity with automated testing frameworks and methodologies
- Understanding of deployment standards and release management procedures for infrastructure automation applications
Monitoring & Analytics- Ability to develop and implement application-based metrics for infrastructure health monitoring
- Willingness to learn monitoring and alerting tools and concepts
- Focus on stability and performance optimization
Collaboration & Communication- Experience working in agile development environments
- Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders

Work EnvironmentThis position involves working within the Federal Reserve System, partnering with multiple development teams across the organization to deliver enterprise-scale network automation applications.
The selected candidate will reside within a reasonable commuting distance defined by the employing Reserve Bank and will work full-time onsite.
- The following Reserve Bank locations are preferred due to the concentration of System IT team members in these locations: Boston, Richmond.
Salary: 70,880 - 106,200
The listed salary is applicable to the 1st District (Boston Fed). Final offers are determined by factors including the candidate's qualifications, internal alignment considerations, district assignment, and geographic location.
