Job Summary:

The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Marketing for L'Oréal Professionnel Hair Care, Styling, and Beauty Tech is responsible for the strategic development and execution of US marketing programs to drive growth, market share, and brand equity for our flagship Care and Styling portfolios, in addition to the Beauty Tech vertical. This high-impact leader owns the strategic brand vision and P&L performance across a complex, multi-channel distribution ecosystem.

This role requires a highly entrepreneurial, out-of-the-box strategic thinker who can challenge status-quo marketing and push the brand forward. A central priority of this role is to aggressively accelerate growth in hair care. To achieve this, the AVP will work hand-in-hand with our specialized Media and Brand Engagement teams to design and execute industry-leading, digitally disruptive, and culturally relevant marketing strategies. Additionally, the AVP must be a master of cross-functional diplomacy, successfully navigating and managing the complex legal and product claims process between our Global DMI and local US Legal and Regulatory teams to ensure our local product messaging is both highly competitive and legally compliant.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Business Growth & Portfolio Acceleration
• Growth Mandate: Architect and execute the strategic roadmap to aggressively scale L'Oréal Professionnel's consumer local business through disruptive launch strategies and commercial optimization.
• Portfolio Strategy: Set the overarching growth strategy and brand vision for L'Oréal Professionnel Hair Care and Styling in the US market, ensuring alignment with global brand guidelines and local division objectives.
• Omni-Channel Execution: Lead a cohesive multi-channel strategy that harmonizes professional accounts (SalonCentric) and consumer local channels, identifying unique commercial and consumer touchpoints to maximize customer acquisition.
2. Modern Media & Brand Engagement Strategy
• Media & Engagement Partnership: Collaborate deeply with the internal Media and Brand Engagement teams to co-develop, challenge, and execute the strongest possible media and advocacy strategies for the portfolio, ensuring high-impact visibility, optimal return on ad spend (ROAS), and a modern brand footprint.
• Disruptive Storytelling: Partner closely with Media & Brand Engagement teams to push the boundaries of traditional campaigns by integrating PR, influencer advocacy, experiential activations, and social-first content to build deep consumer love and professional trust.
• Global DMI Collaboration: Partner closely with the Global DMI team to ensure upcoming global innovations and brand initiatives are fully adapted, localized, and highly relevant to the nuances of the US market.
3. Claims, Legal & Artwork Navigation
• Claims & Artwork Management: Oversee and manage the highly complex product claims and packaging artwork approval processes for the US market.
• Strategic Influencing & Diplomacy: Act as the strategic mediator and key influencer between the Global DMI team and local US Claims, Regulatory, and Legal departments.
• Risk & Competitiveness Balance: Successfully advocate for and secure artwork and marketing claims that are highly competitive and impactful in the US marketplace, while strictly respecting, mitigating, and protecting the brand against stringent US legal risks.
4. Financial Optimization & Operational Excellence
• Financial Acumen: Oversee the P&L for the Hair Care & Styling categories, managing media spend, promotional investments, and promotional budget allocations with a strict focus on maximizing ROI.
• Demand Planning & Forecasting: Partner with Demand Planning to build accurate sales forecasts, monitor inventory targets, and proactively adjust trends based on rapid local consumer channel growth.
• Pricing & SKU Optimization: Lead pricing strategies and SKU rationalization efforts to maintain healthy margins while meeting the strategic demands of key retail accounts.
5. Team Development & Cross-Functional Orchestration
• People Management: Direct, coach, and develop a team of passionate marketers, fostering a collaborative, highly motivated, and psychologically safe team culture.
• Internal Hub: Serve as a central hub of collaboration among key internal stakeholders (DMI, Finance, Sales, Digital, Creative, and PPD HQ) to ensure project timelines, milestones, and crucial business approvals are met seamlessly.

Key Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience: Minimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience successfully leading strategic marketing, brand management, or product management (experience within the beauty, cosmetics, or CPG industry is highly preferred).
• Entrepreneurial Mindset: Proven track record as an out-of-the-box thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit, comfortable taking calculated risks, challenging convention, and scaling businesses rapidly.
• Claims & Regulatory Diplomacy: Proven ability to navigate complex, multi-stakeholder legal and claims validation environments; strong negotiation and influencing skills to align Global DMI creative output with local US legal parameters.
• Industry Appreciation: A deep understanding of both the professional beauty industry/salon environment and consumer prestige retail landscapes (such as Sephora and Amazon).
• Media & Engagement Savviness: Strong fluency in the modern digital media landscape, social media platform trends, influencer advocacy, CRM strategy, and e-commerce growth drivers.
• Financial Mastery: Exceptional financial and analytical acumen with proven experience managing category P&Ls, budgets, forecasting, and pricing strategies.
