Assistant Superintendent, Strategy & Performance

The Assistant Superintendent of Strategy & Performance provides leadership and direction to the district's accountability system to drive continuous improvement at the district and school level. The Assistant Superintendent collaborates cross divisionally to align the district's accountability systems to the Board of Education's Core Beliefs, Commitments, and Goals for Student Learning/Strategic Plan.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as a key member of the Superintendent's Cabinet Leadership team, supporting the strategic leadership expectations of the Chief.


  • Positively and proactively participate in leadership meetings, representing the Superintendent and district priorities.


  • Provide interpretation of state and local accountability results and collaborate with Cabinet team to identify data trends to inform the continuous improvement process.


  • Lead the development and implementation of a balanced system of accountability that includes local and state priority metrics.


  • Lead the interpretation and preparation of national, state, and local accountability reports and collaborate with district and school teams to create a sense of urgency to drive a performance culture that results in student performance improvement.


  • Collaborate cross-divisionally to communicate local and state accountability results for public dissemination.


  • Build leader capacity to interpret and monitor local and state accountability metrics and intervene to improve student performance.


  • Establish equitable criteria to prioritize and tier district-level staff school support.


  • Lead the implementation and progress monitoring of Strategic Plan implementation phases and collaborate with Cabinet team to drive continuous improvement and inform professional learning needs.


  • Demonstrate strong, on-going communications and collaboration with Principals, district leaders, teachers, students, and parents to ensure clarity in teaching and learning expectations.


  • Budget resources (funding, time, people, technology, etc.) appropriately to achieve district priorities, and support and monitor local, state, and federal guidelines, rules, and procedures for effective and appropriate management of funds.


  • Promote a performance culture that aligns structures and supports that improve classroom instruction and student learning outcomes.


  • Keep abreast of federal and state laws and policies related to accountability and establish procedures to ensure required compliance of these laws and practices.


  • Attend meetings and trainings as requested.


  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master's degree, required; Georgia Leadership Certificate, preferred.


  • Minimum of three years administrative/supervisory experience, required.


  • Prior building level and/or district office administrative experience, required.


  • Knowledge of public education and driving improvement in student achievement.


  • Using quantitative and qualitative information in an instructional setting to drive decision-making and evaluation.


  • Strong strategic planning and organizational skills.


  • Familiarity with systems thinking and the ability to analyze organizational situations from structural, human capital, political, and cultural perspectives.


  • Analyze complex situations and synthesize information carefully to develop an effective course of action.


  • Communicate tactfully, appropriately, and effectively with individuals and groups.

Accountability

The AS will be held to accountability measures mutually identified and agreed upon with the Deputy Superintendent.

Salary Schedule: A2 (Doctorate), A2-1 (Specialist), A2-2 (Master's/Bachelor's)
