Job Description:

The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 1, 2027. We welcome applications from candidates engaged in high-quality research in Cognitive or Social Psychology, with the specific area of research being open. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally supported research program of research and teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition to a commitment to excellence in both teaching and research, responsibilities will include participation in department, school, and university activities. Applicants should have a PhD or an anticipated PhD completion by August 1, 2027.

The annual salary range is $100,000-110,000. Full review of applications will begin October 1, 2026 and will continue until the position is filled, subject to on-going budgetary approval. Include a letter of application, curriculum vitae, recent teaching evaluations (when possible), and copies of three recently published papers or working papers.
