RN Assistant Nurse Manager - Labor & Delivery

Location: Torrance, California
Job Type: Full-Time
About the Role

The RN Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in leading daily clinical and operational activities within the Labor & Delivery unit. This role provides leadership during assigned shifts, supports nursing staff, promotes patient safety and quality outcomes, and helps ensure efficient unit operations.
Responsibilities
  • Support the planning, organization, and coordination of Labor & Delivery operations
  • Provide clinical and operational leadership during assigned shifts
  • Assist with staff supervision, coaching, and performance development
  • Promote high-quality patient care and patient safety initiatives
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Support staffing, workflow management, and resource allocation
  • Assist with quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives
  • Serve as a leadership resource for nursing staff across all shifts
  • Foster a positive, patient-centered culture within the department
  • Support implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a dedicated Labor & Delivery unit
  • Minimum 2 years of Charge Nurse experience in Labor & Delivery
Preferred Qualifications
  • Recent acute care hospital experience
  • Labor & Delivery leadership experience
  • Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, or Relief Charge Nurse experience
  • Shared Governance participation
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
