About the RoleThe RN Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in leading daily clinical and operational activities within the Labor & Delivery unit. This role provides leadership during assigned shifts, supports nursing staff, promotes patient safety and quality outcomes, and helps ensure efficient unit operations.
Responsibilities- Support the planning, organization, and coordination of Labor & Delivery operations
- Provide clinical and operational leadership during assigned shifts
- Assist with staff supervision, coaching, and performance development
- Promote high-quality patient care and patient safety initiatives
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
- Support staffing, workflow management, and resource allocation
- Assist with quality improvement and regulatory compliance initiatives
- Serve as a leadership resource for nursing staff across all shifts
- Foster a positive, patient-centered culture within the department
- Support implementation of policies, procedures, and best practices
Required Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a dedicated Labor & Delivery unit
- Minimum 2 years of Charge Nurse experience in Labor & Delivery
Preferred Qualifications- Recent acute care hospital experience
- Labor & Delivery leadership experience
- Assistant Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse, or Relief Charge Nurse experience
- Shared Governance participation
- Demonstrated leadership and team development skills
