This Assistant Nurse Manager will oversee both our Labor & Delivery and NICU units. We are ideally seeking a candidate with a NICU background; L&D experience is a valuable bonus. The successful candidate should be comfortable occasionally working in L&D - stepping in as charge nurse or assisting with deliveries - as staffing needs arise.
What You'll Do- Partners with the Nurse Manager to create a shared vision with team members and acts consistently with Novant Health's Mission, Vision, Values, and Service Standards
- Provides clinical and administrative leadership at the unit level, fostering a culture of professional accountability and a healthy work environment
- Coordinates provision of patient care through delegation, problem solving, time management, and organizational skills
- Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and improve processes surrounding patient care
- Coaches, mentors, and develops team members, supporting recruitment, retention, and succession planning
- Monitors unit operations daily, supports safe and effective staffing, and assists with departmental audits
- Partners with the Nurse Manager on quality improvement initiatives, data trending, and patient/team satisfaction
- Supports timekeeping compliance, budget management, and resource allocation for the department
- Steps into a charge role or hands-on care as needed across L&D and NICU to meet patient care and staffing need
What We're Looking For- Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, required. BSN, preferred. Graduate Degree, preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical RN experience, preferred. Prior demonstrated nursing leadership, preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required. NC state approved curricula for restrictive interventions (facility specific) within 3 months of hire for Emergency Departments and Behavioral Health units, required. Unit/Dept Specific Required Certifications.
- Additional Skills (required): Successful completion of generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Ability to successfully complete Leader Education & Training.
